PUBLIC STATEMENT
The 18b Arts District Neighborhood Association is deeply saddened by the shooting that occurred during last night’s First Friday activities. We hold the victims, their loved ones, and all those affected close to our hearts. We also extend our gratitude to the first responders, law enforcement officers, medical personnel, event staff, and community members who responded during a frightening and difficult situation.
For decades, the 18b Las Vegas Arts District has been a welcoming neighborhood built around art, creativity, small businesses, residents, visitors, and a strong sense of community. The safety and well-being of everyone who lives, works, creates, and visits here remains one of our highest priorities.
The 18b Arts District Neighborhood Association will work closely with the First Friday Foundation, neighborhood businesses, residents, event organizers, the City of Las Vegas, law enforcement, and other community partners to review what occurred and identify additional measures that can help make First Friday and the surrounding neighborhood as safe as possible moving forward.
First Friday has long been an important celebration of Las Vegas artists, makers, musicians, small businesses, and the creative community. We remain committed to supporting this important cultural tradition while ensuring that public safety remains at the forefront of its continued success.
In moments like this, our strength comes from standing together. We ask our community to support the victims and their families, look out for one another, and continue supporting the artists, locally owned businesses, residents, and organizations that make the 18b Arts District such a special part of Las Vegas.
