It’s National Food Pantry Week and this week we celebrate the life of Reverend Bonnie Polley, our Founder. She served as Deacon at Christ Church Episcopal, the oldest church in Las Vegas, for almost 40 years. The Review Journal named her the “Mother Theresa of Las Vegas” for her contributions to the community. She also served as the Chaplain to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and also to the thousands of inmates who have made their way through the Clark County Jail for decades. Our Founder Bonnie, passed away just a few weeks ago.
Bonnie started the Epicenter as a simple food pantry and in the years since it’s founding, it has grown into so much more! Opening David’s Digs a couple years ago, the Epicenter now provides daily Showers and Laundry Services as well as serving as a mini Post Office, so homeless patrons can get the crucial paperwork needed to get assistance and get off the street. Not to mention, we provide a warm dinner and fellowship every Wednesday night….and all this happens right in the heart of our homeless population just off Sahara and Maryland Parkway, in the shadows just east of the Las Vegas Strip. Hundreds of people make their way through our doors weekly.
This is National Food Pantry Week and this year, in honor of the life of the Deacon Bonnie Polley, we are hosting a FaceBook Fundraiser. And now, we would like to ask you for a little help. Would you please help us honor Bonnie and also help feed the hungriest and least among us and donate to the Epicenter on the Parkway? Know your dollars are going directly to help those MOST IN NEED as we are a volunteer run 501c3 organization with only 2 part-time employees. Your dollars go far. Thank you for taking the time to read our tribute and for your consideration of our request.
