Green Our Planet is proud to announce the completion of our second annual SEED (Sustainable, Educational, Entrepreneurial Development) Tank Program Competition, a nationwide student innovation challenge, where young entrepreneurs grow big ideas from the roots up! Supported by the Lincoln Dynamic Foundation, this year’s program empowered students across the country to design innovative solutions that address real-world sustainability challenges.

This year’s SEED Tank program expanded dramatically from a 2024 pilot of just 6 projects to 39 incredible projects from 130 students participating nationwide. Throughout the Fall semester, student teams researched pressing environmental issues and developed hydroponics-inspired innovations that support their schools, communities, and the planet. Over the next few days, we’ll be showing you some of the impressive projects our participating students created! Stay tuned!

Every major challenge we face today—climate change, food insecurity, even mental health—shares a common root: we’ve become disconnected from nature...

That belief led me to co-found Green Our Planet—inspired by a simple truth shared by Dr. Richard Leakey:

“If people fall in love with the Earth, they’ll want to protect it.”

Today, we help students fall in love with the Earth by growing food through school gardens and classroom hydroponics—turning them into living STEM labs where learning is hands-on, joyful, and real.

What started as one school garden is now the largest school garden and hydroponics program in the U.S.
🌱 1,300+ schools
📍 44 states
👧🏽 500,000+ students reached

By 2033, our goal is to reach 5 million students in 10,000 communities.

These programs don’t just grow food—they grow confidence, curiosity, and hope. And they’re powered by incredible teachers who are reimagining what education can be.

When children fall in love with the Earth, everything else becomes possible.

If you’re interested in bringing gardens or hydroponics to your school, partnering to scale nature-based STEM, or exploring solutions at the intersection of education, food, and climate—I’d love to connect.

Because the real question isn’t can we afford to reconnect kids with nature.

It’s: can we afford not to? 🌍

This Thanksgiving, we want to honor the real heroes behind every holiday meal — the millions of often-invisible creatures who make our food system possible.
Bees pollinating pumpkins and berries.Bats helping seeds and fruits flourish.Earthworms creating fertile soil.Salmon nourishing forests and river ecosystems.A vast network of life working together so communities can thrive.
At Green Our Planet, we believe that reconnecting people to the planet — through hands-on growing at school, work, and home — is essential for a sustainable future.
This short video highlights the helpers we often forget, but rely on every day.
Wishing you and your community a joyful and meaningful Thanksgiving.— Green Our Planet 🌎🌱

Our Story

Green Our Planet (GoP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit conservation organization that runs the largest and one of the most comprehensive outdoor school garden programs and indoor hydroponics programs in the United States. Green Our Planet’s mission is to help conserve, protect, and improve the environment through education, which includes building outdoor and indoor hydroponic gardens in schools so that students in PreK-12th grade schools can learn about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math), nutrition, and conservation experientially (hands-on). Our programs are the only STEMworks-accredited school garden programs in the nation.
