Check out the changes headed to Huntridge Circle Park, our original outdoor movie venue!
Updates about Huntridge Circle Park. Work is being done diligently behind the scenes, and yesterday the City Council voted to extend the time by 12 more months to get plans solidified to create the proposed Children’s Park area, as well as the proposed interactive Art Park. The proposed Children’s Area will be phase one, and the Art Park phase two.
Regarding the Art Park, here are some key points I want to share. (Please keep in mind that this is a work in progress and subject to change and to meeting fundraising goals!)
Mission:
To create “Time Machine Art Park”, an interactive sculpture garden inside Huntridge Circle Park in Las Vegas, that will remain free of charge to Nevada residents. To be created and operated in conjunction with the Time Machine immersive art exhibit located inside Huntridge Plaza at 1110 E. Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas NV 89104. Proposed Art Park will feature temporary Sculptural Art Installations, family-friendly Community Events, and a Visiting Artist Program.
• Art Park to remain free to all Nevada state residents who can provide any picture ID, including driver’s license, state ID, student ID, etc.
• A security fence will be installed and security personnel hired.
• To enter Art Park, visitors will go through an admissions booth area. All attempts will be made to streamline this process for quick access for returning and regular visitors.
• The designated Children’s Park area will have a separate entrance which will remain open and free to all, without needing to go through Art Park admissions. However, people without children are not allowed to linger there, as per city designation.
• All art is to be interactive, inviting the viewer’s participation. A visiting artists program will provide additional rotating temporary artwork for the community to enjoy.
• The artwork is to be created by a diverse group of local Las Vegas artists. We are deeply committed to engaging a minimum of 80% local artists, many from the Huntridge Neighborhood. :)
• All signage will be in English and Spanish. The Paiute language will also be featured on planned Petroglyph sculpture, created by a local indigenous artist.
• Pathways, bathrooms and park features will be ADA compliant, and artwork designs will take special needs into consideration.
• Art Park staff will coordinate active programming with community input, to encourage community gatherings, dance, immersive theater, musical concerts, yoga, science / educational experiments for kids, movie nights and other community events at the park.
