His service was a lasting commitment to the Las Vegas community. We honor and remember Sergeant Douglas Michael King of the LVMPD. End of Watch: August 23, 2021.

For 17 years, Sergeant King proudly served with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. His career was marked by a commitment to protecting and serving others, leaving a lasting impact on the community and fellow officers he served alongside.

Sergeant King died from complications after contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty. He was 35 years old and survived by his wife, three daughters, granddaughter, mother, father, grandmother, brother and sister.

Five years after his End of Watch, we continue to honor Sergeant King’s life, service and sacrifice. His dedication will never be forgotten, and his memory remains with the Las Vegas community he served.

Bound by duty. Defined by courage. Remembered forever. Today we honor the legacy of Deputy Sheriff Gary Raymond Downs with the Nye County Sheriff's Office. End of Watch: August 22, 1992.

Over the course of his four years with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Sheriff Downs was known as a great officer, dedicated public servant and protector.

One Saturday morning shortly after beginning his shift, Deputy Sheriff Downs along with several other officers received reports of a man attempting to gain entry to a home after he had been thrown out by the owner. When they arrived on scene, the officers separated the fighting parties. Two officers then entered the residence while Deputy Sheriff Downs and another officer remained outside and attempted to arrest the man. A violent struggle ensued between the suspect and the deputies, during which Deputy Sheriff Downs was punched in the chest and suffered a heart attack. He collapsed at the scene and passed away a short time later at the hospital. He was survived by his wife and two children.

Deputy Sheriff Downs was 45 years old. He gave everything for our tomorrow and left a legacy of service, courage and dedication that will never be forgotten.

The Injured Police Officers Fund thanks everyone who came together at Nevada Coin Mart this weekend for a fundraiser supporting Officer Abdelnabi's loved ones. Whether you donated, attended or helped spread the word, your support made a meaningful difference during an incredibly difficult time.

We are grateful to Nevada Coin Mart for opening its doors to the community and to everyone who continues to stand beside the Abdelnabi family and our law enforcement community.

As Officer Austin Zade Abdelnabi’s procession made its way through Southern Nevada last Friday, our law enforcement family and members of our community came together to honor him and pay tribute to his service and ultimate sacrifice. The procession concluded at Central Church, where those who knew and loved Officer Abdelnabi gathered to honor his life and legacy.

Officer Abdelnabi's impact will not be forgotten. We will continue to stand with his wife, his family, the LVMPD and the entire law enforcement community as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

Join us on August 22 for a special workout honoring the life and service of Officer Austin Abdelnabi.

The WOD will be a 40-minute AMRAP featuring a 290-meter run, eight alternating Devil’s Presses and 20 single dumbbell squats. Participants can choose from two workout times: 8:30 a.m. or 10 a.m.

A legacy of service never fades. We stand together in solemn remembrance today in honor of Officer Clark Anthony Wooldridge with the LVMPD. End of Watch: August 14, 1979.

Officer Wooldridge joined the LVMPD in August of 1978. One year later, while responding to a report of a fight caused by a traffic collision, Officer Wooldridge’s patrol car collided with another vehicle, rolled and became engulfed in flames. Another officer who responded to the call was able to pull the unconscious Officer Wooldridge from his vehicle. The officer, with help from a concerned citizen, carried him away from the burning car. Officer Wooldridge was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries two days later. He was survived by his wife.

Officer Wooldridge was 22 years old. He leaves a legacy of bravery, unwavering commitment and selfless service. We hold this memory close to our hearts today and every day.

Today, we hold close the memory of Officer Philip Carl Closi with the LVMPD. End of Watch: August 11, 2021.

Officer Closi joined LVMPD on September 13, 2000, and was assigned to the Convention Center Area Command where he worked patrol. During his 21-year career with LVMPD, Officer Closi collaborated with educators on devising school violence awareness programs and taught countless teenagers about the dangers of drugs and violence as a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) officer.

On August 11, 2021, Officer Closi passed away from complications of COVID-19, which he contracted in the line of duty. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Officer Closi was incredibly passionate about helping others and continued mentoring youth while off duty as a coach for his children’s hockey teams. He also served on the board of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association, where he advocated for the rights, benefits and well-being of local law enforcement officers.

Officer Closi was 48 years old. He will forever be remembered as a dedicated family man and public servant. His badge may rest, but the impact of his service endures forever.

Standing united in support and memory, we honor the legacy of Patrolman Marvin Leroy Scott with the Henderson Police Department. End of Watch: August 10, 1977.

Patrolman Scott was a protector through and through. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars before joining the Henderson Police Department, where he worked for two years.

On August 10, 1977, Patrolman Scott and another officer responded to a local bar for a call and encountered two women attacking the bartender. As they attempted to subdue the women, Patrolman Scott was struck several times. He returned to the police station at the end of his shift and collapsed shortly after due to a fatal heart attack. He was survived by his wife, daughter and two sons.

Patrolman Scott was 40 years old. He lived a life in service to others, protecting his fellow Americans internationally and at home. We will forever honor his legacy of courage, service and sacrifice.
