Ella gave us quite a scare over the holiday weekend, and we want to share what happened so everyone understands why she needed urgent care.
A few days ago, her foster noticed Ella was not acting like herself. She was not greeting her at the door, she was slow to get up, and she was clearly uncomfortable. By the next morning, she could barely stand. Because she was in pain and needed immediate help, her foster took her to the veterinarian she uses for her own pets, since it was the closest trusted option and Ella needed to be seen right away.
The vet discovered that Ella had developed an abscess that required cleaning, opening, placing a drain, fluids, antibiotics, and pain medication. She also had a fever of 104 when she arrived. They kept her for several hours to stabilize her and get her comfortable.
Ella is now home and improving. She is moving better, drinking well, and eating small amounts to take her medication. Her drain is scheduled to be removed tomorrow and her stitches will stay in for two weeks while she continues to heal.
Because this happened over the holiday weekend and she needed immediate care, the closest available vet was out of network for the rescue, and her total bill came to 1650 dollars.
If you would like to help us cover Ella’s emergency medical costs, we would be so grateful. Your support allows us to step in quickly when our rescue animals need us most. Thank you for sponsoring Ella
