Wellness Reimagined – How you live is how you lead.

She spent 26 years building billion-dollar business run rates as a global tech executive. Then a cancer diagnosis stopped everything and clarified life. Alison Conigliaro-Hubbard, ACC, CPCC calls it the pause she didn’t know she needed. What came out of that experience was not a departure from her career; rather, it was a transformational epiphany that led her to advanced studies at Cornell University, MIT, and Harvard Medical School, beyond her coaching credentials from CTI and ICF.

Based on her personal experience, her studies, and extensive research, she crystallized the concept of “Internal Ecology™” for leaders. This view sees wellness as much more than a simplistic set of self-care habits. It is a holistic approach that directly links our leadership capacity to our internal systems ‒ the totality of our inner physical health, energy, mental psychology, and habits. Our “Internal Ecology™” shapes our ability to think, make decisions, and sustain performance. the starting place for personal change and elevation.

At WLC 2026 hear Alison break this down as the starting place for personal change and elevation — in a way that you haven’t heard before with a perspective that is equal parts boardroom and real life.

Pride Month is a reminder that leadership is strongest when every person is seen, valued, and empowered to lead authentically.

At FWLE, we recognize that women do not experience barriers in the same way. For many LGBTQ+ women, the journey to belonging, visibility, and opportunity has required extraordinary courage and resilience.

This month, we celebrate the women who lead boldly, love authentically, and continue to create spaces where others can do the same.

Because leadership knows no boundaries.

Love knows no boundaries.
Happy Pride Month. 🏳️‍🌈💜

A Lesson on Defining Your Guiding Principles – to Define Your Leadership Path

Most leadership stories start at the top and work backward. Melissa M. Proctor's starts on the sideline.

As the first "ball girl" for the Miami Heat, she had a front-row seat to the business of professional sports, and used every moment to learn, observe, and position herself for what was next.

That intentionality carried her all the way to Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena.
Her path wasn't linear. It wasn't predictable. And that's exactly what makes it worth hearing.

At the 2026 Women's Leadership Conference, Melissa will share the guiding principles that shaped her decisions, defined her leadership, and helped her build a career that few could have mapped out in advance.
If you've ever wondered whether your path is too unconventional, too indirect, or too different, this is the session for you.

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the
International Association of Women Las Vegas event focused on mentorship, sponsorship, and allyship in leadership.

The discussion reinforced something I’ve believed throughout my career: leadership is rarely a solo journey.

Behind most successful leaders is a network of people who have offered guidance, opened doors, advocated for opportunities, and created pathways for growth.

Mentors help us navigate challenges.
Sponsors help us access opportunities.
Allies help ensure our voices are heard.

Each plays a different role, but all are essential to developing strong leaders and creating workplaces where women can thrive.

As I listened to the panelists and connected with attendees, I was reminded why this work matters so deeply to me and why these conversations continue to be a cornerstone of the Foundation for Women’s Leadership & Empowerment.

Leadership development is about more than skills. It’s about relationships, community, and creating environments where women are equipped, supported, and empowered to lead.

Those themes will continue throughout the Women’s Leadership Conference because leadership is made, not born.

If these are the conversations you want to be having, make sure you’re in the room with us August 31-September 1. The Women’s Leadership Conference brings together leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, and changemakers committed to growing their influence and impact.

Thank you to the International Association of Women Las Vegas for creating space for such a meaningful conversation.

Some people command a room the moment they walk in. Dethra Giles is one of them!

As CEO of ExecuPrep and creator of the DARE™ Model for Conversational Competence, Dethra has spent her career helping leaders communicate and influence.

She’s worked with organizations including the NBA, Kaiser Permanente, Louis Vuitton, and Pandora. She’s taken five TEDx stages. And she brings frank talk, strategy, humor, and unmistakable presence to every room she enters.

This year, she’s bringing all of that to the WLC stage as your 2026 Emcee.

Expect energy. Expect clarity. Expect the kind of facilitation that makes you sit up straighter, reflect candidly on your purpose ‒ at WLC and in your career, and think differently about the way you lead.

This should stop you in your tracks.

Nearly twice the rate. Not a small difference. A career-defining one.

And yet most women are investing heavily in mentorship while sponsorship remains out of reach. Not because they are not worthy of it, but because nobody taught them how to build it, earn it, and activate it.

A mentor gives you advice. A sponsor gives you access. And at the level you are trying to reach, access is everything.

At WLC 2026 this Aug 31-Sept 1, we are dedicating a series of education sessions to visibility, sponsorship mechanics, and how to position yourself for the kind of advocacy that can actually change your trajectory.

Seats are filling. Do not wait!

In 2017, 31% of companies had formal sponsorship programs for women.

By 2024 that number had dropped to 16%.

At the same moment that organizations are pulling back on the infrastructure that supports women's advancement, the expectation that women will rise anyway has not changed. That is the reality a lot of leaders are navigating right now.

Which means the women who advance in this environment will not be the ones waiting for their companies to build the path. They will be the ones building it for themselves.

Regardless of retrenchment in the social and business environment for leadership development – and in particular advancement of women leaders, FWLE exists to educate, and galvanize support for, women leaders. And that is exactly what WLC 2026 this Aug 31-Sept 1 is designed to equip you for.

We spend so much time and money on skill development when the real barrier is something else entirely.

You do not need another certification. You do not need to be more polished in your communication. You need someone in the right room, at the right time, saying your name with conviction.

That is access. And it is not something you stumble into. It is something you build, cultivate, and protect over the course of a career.

The leaders who figure this out stop asking how to get better and start asking how to get closer. Closer to the decisions. Closer to the people who shape them. Closer to the opportunities that compound over time.

Which of the three is holding you back most right now? Decisions, rooms, or the right people? Tell us below.

And if you are ready to start closing those gaps, WLC 2026 is where that work begins. Register at https://www.fwle.org/conference
