The City of Avondale, AZ is quietly becoming one of the most interesting innovation hubs in our state.

Avondale sits at the intersection of some powerful tailwinds:

• Strategic location in the West Valley with direct access to major infrastructure and logistics corridors
• Proximity to advanced manufacturing and semiconductor expansion across the region
• A growing workforce pipeline through partnerships with education and workforce institutions
• Real commitment from city leadership to support founders, operators, and new ideas
• The ability to move fast and pilot bold concepts without layers of friction

That last one matters more than people realize.

Because innovation doesn’t just happen in density…
it happens where there’s space to experiment.

The Avondale Venture 500 wasn’t just a one-off activation.

It’s proof that cities can rethink how they show up for startups.
A signal that Arizona’s growth isn’t limited to a single zip code.
A signal that we’re entering a new era of ecosystem building across the state.

And we’re just getting started.

We’re already in early conversations about bringing this back next year—bigger, sharper, and even more integrated with founders, investors, and corporate partners.

Still taking it all in…

Yesterday’s Freeway’s 5th Tech Talent Summit + Startup Pavilion was something special — and honestly, it was the perfect crescendo to the first inaugural Arizona Tech Week.

The energy all week has been undeniable.
Rooms filled. Conversations flowing. New ideas, new relationships, new momentum.

You could feel it… Phoenix is showing up in a different way.

To everyone who showed up, leaned in, shared conversations, took meetings, asked questions, supported founders, hired talent, invested time, and simply engaged thank you.

This only works because of you.

There was real movement across:
• Talent finding opportunity
• Capital finding conviction
• Community showing up for each other

That’s how ecosystems grow. And it’s happening.

To our founders, operators, investors, partners, volunteers, and city leaders your presence and participation made this week what it was. The buzz, the impact, the collaboration… it doesn’t happen without all of you.

We’re going to keep building and we’re going to keep listening.

Your feedback, your ideas, your experiences will shape what comes next.

For now, I hope you take a restorative weekend to recharge and reflect.

Not every day pushes the boundary of what’s possible… but this one did.

The Avondale Venture 500 was one of those days.

From the very start doing the initial lap in the pace car with Mayor Mike Pineda, M.Ed. you knew this wasn’t going to be a typical startup event.

We watched 30+ startups pitch…
not just in a room…
but inside pace cars and in a live media environment.

Let that sink in:
Founders pitching to investors
while going ~90 mph around a race track.

When the City of Avondale Economic Development first brought this vision to me, I had never done anything like it.

But I said yes.

Because it was different.
Because it would be memorable.
Because it was high-quality.
And because it pushed the boundary of what’s possible in how we show up for innovation.

And honestly… I’d love to be challenged here, has anyone seen this done before?

This might have been the first time a founder and investor pitched in a pace car, live, on a track.

That only happens when community leans all the way in.

This wasn’t just an event it was a new chapter in how Avondale shows up in the tech and innovation conversation.

And a special shoutout to Cameron Weber my media partner over the last two years who engineered a live stream from inside the pace car into the media room.

That is not easy.

There were real-time challenges, pivots, and pressure… and he owned it fully.

That’s what it takes to pull off something that hasn’t been done before.

Because when you accomplish what once felt impossible…
you raise the standard for what comes next.

To everyone who came out to support the startups thank you.
And congratulations to X-Silicon Inc for taking home the Avondale Innovators Cup 🏁 and to Hoopsy for winning their fast pitch!
