August is Rotary Membership Month - and what better time to showcase one of our Honorary Members, in her own words! Stacy Chapter 💛 As the Community Outreach Manager for Project 150, I have the privilege of speaking to civic organizations and participating in community events throughout Southern Nevada. Over the years, I’ve worked with several Rotary clubs that have generously supported our mission, but my visit to the LV After Hours was something special.

From the moment I walked in, I could feel the difference. I’d heard the Four-Way Test before, but this club added one more question: “Is it fun?” That simple addition perfectly reflected their spirit. They were passionate about serving others, but they also genuinely enjoyed spending time together 😃, sometimes over a glass of wine!🍷

One simple “ask” from them, and before I knew it, I was warmly embraced as an Honorary Member. After touring Project 150 and learning more about the students we serve, club members quickly became involved. They volunteered at scholarship interviews, donation drives, and special projects. Before long, I found myself giving back alongside them—helping assemble event bags, supporting their charity golf tournament, and even ringing the Salvation Army bell during the holidays.

Receiving a Paul Harris Fellow recognition from Linda Bertuzzi was an honor I will always treasure. To me, Las Vegas After Hours Rotary is much more than a service organization. It is a family of friends who truly live “Service Above Self” while making a meaningful difference—and having fun every step of the way. 🥰

Today we celebrate the 57th anniversary of humanity’s first moon landing—a moment that forever changed history and inspired generations to dream beyond the stars.

On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first person to set foot on the Moon, reminding the world that extraordinary achievements begin with vision, courage, and determination. As Rotarians, we also take pride in knowing that Armstrong was a fellow Rotarian, exemplifying a lifelong commitment to service and leadership.

Here’s to celebrating innovation, exploration, and the enduring spirit of “Service Above Self.”

Cheers 🥂and congratulations 🎉 to our 25-26 Rotarian of the Year - Evelyn Frese! 🥰The impact of this award recognizing her contributions to LVAHR couldn't be expressed better than in her own words:

"Sometimes, life has a way of answering the questions we’ve been asking ourselves. Lately, I’ve been wondering if I was doing too much. Between serving as a Membership Board Member for PTANA, Secretary of the Las Vegas After Hours Rotary Club, and running my travel agency full-time, I seriously considered stepping back from one of my volunteer commitments.

Then came a surprise I never expected. I was honored to be named Rotarian of the Year by my Rotary Club. Along with this beautiful plaque, I received a journal that simply says “Difference Maker.” Reading those words reminded me why I continue to serve. Helping others, especially young families and children, isn’t always easy, and there are days when you wonder if you’re making a difference at all. This recognition reminded me that even the smallest acts of service can have a lasting impact!🫶💕👍🏼☺️

To my fellow Rotarians, thank you for believing in me and for this incredible honor. You didn’t just give me an award, you renewed my commitment to serving our community. Sometimes, when you’re thinking about letting go, God (or life) gently reminds you that you’re exactly where you’re meant to be."

As we celebrate Cat's retirement from a memorable year as our President, we want to say THANK YOU for a year filled with Service, Social, and Fun! Cat's passion for Rotary has inspired us all.
