Some of the most important signs of human trafficking are also the easiest to overlook.

A person may not be physically restrained. They may be controlled through fear, debt, threats, deception, isolation, or someone else controlling their money, identification, transportation, or communication.

That matters for every community—including Las Vegas and Southern Nevada.

NHFI created a practical guide to help residents understand what human trafficking is, the warning signs, online risks, U.S. laws, the difference between trafficking and smuggling, and where to get help.

You may recognize something you didn’t know was a warning sign.

New Hope Foundation International would like to thank the City of Las Vegas Government, City Manager Mike Janssen’s office, and Innovation & Technologies Director Chris Craig for reviewing the Las Vegas Smart City infrastructure initiative and its existing coverage footprint.

This project was built with people in mind.

Since 2024, New Hope Foundation International has been proud to help provide free, nondiscriminatory internet access to the community through the Las Vegas Smart City initiative, especially for those who need it most.

For someone without reliable internet access, one connection can mean applying for a job, finding housing resources, completing homework, contacting family, accessing services or reaching help during a difficult moment.

In partnership with Las Vegas Newspaper, this privately funded project reflects our belief that digital access can help strengthen prevention, expand opportunity and build community resilience.

The Las Vegas Smart City initiative is not only about public internet access. It is about creating a practical pathway for people to reach resources, education, employment opportunities and support when they need it most.

Prevention is better than cure.

What happens when the oppressed begin to imitate the oppressor?

“The Slave, the Woman, and the Ego (Part 1)” examines ego, intersectionality, exploitation and toxic masculinity through the worldview of pimps, including Iceberg Slim.

The essay explores how power, money and domination can reshape identity—and how the desire to escape oppression can become a desire to control others.

She survived the streets. She survived trauma. She survived being run over by a car. Now Quat needs a real chance to start over.

New Hope Foundation International is raising support to help Quat move toward safety, stability, and a new beginning.

When people hear stories like Quat’s, it is easy to feel sadness. But sadness alone is not enough. Survivors need real support, real resources, and a community willing to stand with them when they are trying to rebuild.

Today, we are asking you to help Quat take the next step.

A donation of any amount can make a difference. If you are unable to give, please share this post so her story can reach more people.

New Hope Foundation International is sharing Quat’s story with compassion, respect, and a call for community awareness.

Her journey reflects the painful realities many survivors face — childhood trauma, foster care, homelessness, street survival, exploitation, and the long road toward healing. Stories like hers remind us why trauma-informed support, safe housing, outreach, and real community resources matter.

We thank Las Vegas Newspaper for giving survivors a platform to be heard.

Please watch, listen with empathy, and share to help raise awareness for those still fighting to rebuild their lives.
