WHERE ARE THE 478 BIRDS? Cockfighting is torture, animal cruelty and just like forcing dogs or any other animal to fight, it should be looked at like the abuse it is. If anyone is in Pahrump or familiar with this, please message us.

The news outlets gave no information, and if NYE county law enforcement killed them, let’s be transparent. We’re trying to find out where they are and how we can step in to help, because ex-fighting roosters deserve a second chance at life and have the ability to be rehabilitated. The images of roosters aren’t from this case because barely any photos have been released- these are examples from other cases. The last video is of a beautiful rooster, Enrique, a rehabilitated ex-fighter rescued, loved and cared for by . Most assume they’re violent, when in reality it’s humans who are the violent ones.

Cockfighting isn’t culture. This is coming from a human writing this who is from two cultures, Mexican and Filipino, popular for this torture. We’ve rescued many roosters over the years with varying personalities and lived experiences, and like any other living being, they can react. What cockfighting does is exploit natural reactions and harm for profit.

We’d like to introduce you to Sodapop 🦆

Soda was abandoned and wrapped in fishing line at a local dumping ground for ducks and chickens here in Vegas, Desert Shpres. He was rescued and kept safe since last Fall by , who reached out to let us know this sweet and gentle boy may be a good fit for a new friend to Fetty. We picked him up yesterday, these are all clips from meeting Fetty and their first moments together.

We named him in homage to Ponyboy (a reference to the book “The Outsiders), Ponyboy and Sodapop were brothers. Fetty is so much happier with another duck friend, and we’re really excited for both of them on their new journey together 🧡

What does colonialism look like in the world of animal exploitation? What does getting away with not only killing living beings, but letting them suffer slowly and never truly being held accountable for it, look like? That’s just another day within systems that normalize domination and violence toward vulnerable living beings.

This is from March of this year, and it was sitting in our drafts but needed to be shared for all the individual lives who were left to die. Chickens are some of the most exploited and forgotten animals on the planet, their suffering treated as insignificant in the name of profit and convenience.

Millions were abandoned, and many starved.

Behind every egg, every piece of meat, are living beings who wanted to live their lives. The least we can do is refuse to
participate in systems built on their suffering.

We can’t kill anyone humanely who doesn’t want to die.

Nevada’s so called “public lands” are Indigenous lands, Paiute and Western Shoshone homelands. They’re also home to wild horses and burros who continue to be blamed for ecological destruction caused largely by animal exploitation/rancher’s interests and “livestock” grazing. Killing or “removing” the horses are more stolen lives on already stolen land.

This Friday, the Nevada Committee on Public Lands will be discussing recommendations that could further endanger Nevada’s wild horses and burros, including support for increased removals, removing/killing off so called “excess” horses.

Animals aren’t disposable. They’re living beings with families, relationships, memories, fear, curiosity, grief, and the desire to live freely, especially wild ones who’ve spent their lives living free as they deserve to.

We wanted to update about Fetty after losing Ponyboy.

He’s been quieter without his best friend, everything has been quieter without Ponyboy. He’s been getting extra attention and we’re making sure his hen friends are spending time with him too. The absence is an unfillable hole, but everyday we do our best to meet Fetty where he is, making sure he eats, gets his pool time and is surrounded by love.

We know rescuing another duck companion is what fate has planned for him and for us, but because of his blindness, we have to be careful in adding another duck to our family for his safety.

What isn’t seen is Fetty calling out for Ponyboy and searching the area he was in toward his final days. His sight might be bad, but he could still feel his presence and hear when Pony talked to him.

Animals mourn their loved ones and deserve to grieve in their own ways. What we can do as their caretakers is continue providing the love, care and support they also deserve as we grieve alongside them. We love and miss you forever, Ponyboy.

No animal exists for human entertainment, profit, or photo ops. Behind the Boulevard Mall walls are living beings denied freedom, autonomy, fresh air, natural sunlight, and the ability to experience life beyond confinement. This is why we keep showing up.

DETAILS:
🌞 11 am- 12:15 pm
*Bring water & sun coverage*

✅ Parking suggested across the street in the Von’s parking lot (1155 E. Twain Ave)

📍 Meet at the public sidewalk in front of One World I.A. (by the Boulevard Mall sign) 2528 S. Maryland Pkwy

✊🏽 Signs provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own and megaphones too.

After SeaQuest’s bankruptcy, the Boulevard Mall purchased One World Interactive Aquarium last March. A shopping mall now owns sea animals used for a petting zoo in the middle of the desert, where many never go outside and reports of inadequate care continue- cats looking sick, fishes looking lifeless, and the smell…

Collective liberation means rejecting systems built on exploitation, including animal captivity. Spread the word and see you then.

To this day, the animals are still being used as objects for profit, denied fresh air, sunlight and natural environments by being forced to “live” in a mall in the middle of the desert.

Collective liberation cannot exist while Indigenous communities continue to face violence and erasure. Indigenous communities demanding justice, accountability, and protection for Indigenous lives don’t deserve to be dismissed. No more stolen sisters.

Today, on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP) Day, we honor the lives and stories of those who are missing or have been taken from us.

While 71% of Indigenous people in the U.S. live in cities, there is still a lack of research on the level of violence they face, especially for trans Indigenous people of color, who are often at even greater risk.

Although today is a day of awareness, this is an everyday crisis that demands our ongoing attention and action. This awareness day was only established in 2021, but Indigenous communities have been fighting for justice for decades.

We must do more to support, protect, and uplift all Indigenous voices. In solidarity, we will not ignore your call for justice.

Yesterday, Ponyboy passed peacefully in his sleep. He was surrounded by his best duck friend Fetty and his hen family members. He left this world in the fresh air and the sunlight like we had hoped for him. These last couple of days he was still eating, and he was still trying, but he was so tired. We are grateful he was able to choose on his own terms when he was ready to leave. This was one of the last videos we have of him.

Although we knew our time with him was not going to be long after his cancer diagnosis earlier this month, his absence leaves a hole in our family. We prepared everyday after the news of his leukemia, but it doesn’t change the heartache and sadness that comes with him no longer being here. We made every moment count and made sure he got extra treats and attention each day this month.

Over the last 5 years, we watched him grow from a sick and scared shelter rescue into a confident and silly character who lived his life authentically as himself.

We’ll miss you everyday, Ponyboy. Tell Baby Duck, Joaquin, Big Red, Navigator, Ito, Pretty Nose and all our loved ones we’ve lost over the years that we miss them too. Stay gold, sweet friend. We love you.
