⚠️ LOOKING TO ADOPT AN AIREDALE? PLEASE READ BEFORE SENDING MONEY. ⚠️
Airedale lovers should be aware of an increasing number of Facebook groups, websites, and social media accounts presenting themselves as Airedale rescues or rehoming organizations.
Some of these groups may look very convincing. They may have professional-looking websites, adoption applications, contracts, testimonials, photographs of available dogs, and active Facebook communities. Unfortunately, photographs and stories of Airedales belonging to legitimate rescue organizations have been copied and reused by groups with no connection to those dogs. AI-generated photographs may also be used.
Before paying an adoption fee, deposit, transportation charge, or reservation fee to anyone claiming to be an Airedale rescue, VERIFY THE ORGANIZATION FIRST.
A good place to start is the National Airedale Rescue website and its directory of recognized Airedale rescue contacts:
www.airedalerescue.net
If a Facebook group, website, or organization claiming to rescue Airedales is not listed there, please do additional research before sending money or providing personal information.
🚩 Be especially cautious when:
• You are asked to send money before you can independently verify the dog exists and is actually in the organization's care.
• Communication takes place primarily through Facebook Messenger or another private messaging service.
• You cannot verify the rescue's physical location or the identity of the people operating it.
• The same organization appears under several different Facebook group or website names.
• Photographs or descriptions of dogs appear elsewhere on the internet or on legitimate rescue pages.
• You are pressured to pay quickly to “reserve” a dog.
• Payment is requested through an individual person's account or a difficult-to-recover payment method.
• The organization offers unusually large numbers of highly desirable Airedales immediately available for adoption.
Seeing a dog's photograph on a Facebook rescue group does not establish that the group actually has that dog.
If you recognize a dog from the website or page of an established Airedale rescue, contact that rescue directly through its known website or page before sending anyone money.
Legitimate Airedale rescue organizations want adopters to ask questions. We would much rather help you verify a dog or organization before money changes hands than learn afterward that an Airedale lover has been deceived.
Please share this warning in Airedale groups and with anyone looking to adopt.
VERIFY THE RESCUE. VERIFY THE DOG. THEN ADOPT. 🐾
