🦎 What Gecko Lacks in Vision, He Makes Up for in Confidence 🦎

We know special-needs puppies can be easy to scroll past, so we’re here to remind everyone that Gecko is still waiting… and he’s pretty fantastic.

At 12 weeks old and 8 pounds, Gecko spends his days doing normal puppy things—playing with his dog friends, collecting toys, testing boundaries, and occasionally making questionable life choices with the confidence of a dog ten times his size.

The future of his vision is still unknown, and some things may always be more challenging for him. Potty training, routines, and navigating new environments may require extra patience and understanding. That’s not a flaw. It’s simply part of who he is.

Because Gecko is fearless and still learning social cues, his future home needs calm, tolerant, well-socialized dog companions. We strongly prefer small dogs, as larger dogs can unintentionally put him at risk.

He also needs a family that is home more often than not. Gecko thrives with consistency, routine, guidance, and people who can help him continue learning how to navigate the world.

The thing is… Gecko doesn’t know he’s different.

He wakes up every morning excited for the day, convinced every dog is his friend and every toy belongs to him. He approaches life with a level of confidence most of us could only dream of.

We know the right family is out there. We just need them to find him.

Biggie is still here.

Still wondering why.
Still waiting for his family.
Still greeting every day with a happy face and a wiggly little nub. 🖤

The truth is, Biggie isn’t asking for much.

He’s 2.5 years old, around 65 lbs, potty trained, dog door trained, and non-destructive in the home. He loves every adult he meets and has shown us that he enjoys having dog friends around, especially calm dogs he can peacefully coexist with.

What Biggie struggles with is confinement and change — two things that are unfortunately unavoidable in rescue until someone chooses him.

Every time he starts settling in, his world shifts again. New people. New routines. New expectations. And yet he keeps trying.

We know he’s not perfect, but who is, and he’s perfect for someone. We’ve always been honest about that. But we also know he deserves someone willing to give him the time and patience to decompress and realize he’s finally home.

🦎 Special Doesn’t Mean Less 🦎

We want to be honest about Gecko because we know his perfect family is out there.

Gecko is considered a special-needs puppy, and while the future of his vision is still unknown, he doesn’t let anything slow him down. He’s learning all the normal puppy things and may need a little extra patience, consistency, and understanding along the way. His progress may look different than other puppies, but that doesn’t make him any less deserving of a happy, full life.

🐾 What Gecko Needs:

🦎 Exceptionally social, tolerant, trustworthy dog companions.
🦎 Small dogs only, or carefully selected larger dogs with no history of behavior that could put him at risk.
🦎 Gentle, patient dogs that can help him learn manners and boundaries.
🦎 A home where someone is around more often than not. An 8+ hour daily absence isn’t the best fit for him.
🦎 Consistency, routine, guidance, and patience.

The good news? Gecko doesn’t know he’s different.

He’s 12 weeks old, 8 pounds, full of confidence, obsessed with other dogs, and wakes up every day ready to take on the world.

Trav would like everyone to know that he has successfully completed his airway surgery, mastered the art of looking adorable in every photo, and is still somehow available. 🤨

We’re honestly not sure what more this guy is supposed to do.

Be handsome? ✔️
Be funny? ✔️
Be friendly? ✔️
Look like a teddy bear that accidentally hit the gym? ✔️

Since joining rescue, Trav has been settling in beautifully and enjoying life with his brand-new ability to breathe like a normal dog. He has been friendly meeting other dogs, with occasional bursts of wrestle mode when he’s feeling extra social. As always, slow introductions and social dogs are recommended.

🌈 TASTE THE RAINBOW 🌈💜🐾

It’s Pride Month after all, and if anyone should be celebrating, it’s Skittle.

This colorful little queen is five months old, approximately 17 lbs, and somehow still available despite checking basically every box imaginable 😭

💜 Sleeps through the night
💜 Almost fully potty trained
💜 Adorable underbite included at no extra charge

And before anyone says, “She’s going to be huge…” we promise she’s not 😅

Skittle just happens to have the beefiest, longest-looking legs in the history of little dogs. Seriously, this girl is serving supermodel runway energy with those stems. While pictures can be deceiving, we expect her to stay under ~35 lbs full grown, making her the perfect medium-sized companion.

We know she doesn’t look like our typical bully breed puppies, and maybe that’s why she keeps getting overlooked. But at the end of the day, she’s still one of ours, still a bully mix, and still just as deserving of a family as every puppy that came before her.

And since it’s Pride Month, we want to celebrate what makes Skittle so special: she’s colorful, unique, impossible to ignore, and completely herself. At Animal Help Alliance, we believe every dog deserves love, belonging, and a place where they are accepted exactly as they are. Inclusivity matters—not just for people, but for every animal waiting for a chance to be seen and loved.

Her siblings have all found their people.

Now it’s Skittle’s turn 💜

💖 MOLLY HAS SOME NEWS TO SHARE 💖

When Molly first joined us, we felt she would likely do best as an only dog. As we’ve gotten to know her better, we’ve continued introducing her to a few of our trusted “greeter” dogs and she has actually surprised us.

Molly is definitely a confident girl, but she has been greeting other dogs appropriately and respectfully. While she hasn’t shown much interest in playing, she has been comfortable coexisting and sharing space with several social dogs.

Because of this, we now feel Molly could potentially live with another dog in the right home. She would do best with a socialized, submissive canine companion, proper introductions, dedicated humans and realistic expectations. She isn’t looking for a wrestling buddy — she’s looking for a roommate. 😆
