"Why the heck did you move downtown??!" Hear the answers from residents who took the plunge and moved into historic neighborhoods before it was cool! During our Oral History Happy Hour on Aug. 21, we'll be gathering at the Balkan Bar And Grill for "Downtown Diaries" where these trailblazers will regale us with the benefits and pitfalls of the vintage Vegas house scene in the early 00’s. Includes one cocktail. Tickets at link in the comments.

Meet Lawrence, who will be presenting Old Home 911 at Stardust Gold on July 18!

Lawrence Grecco is a preservation advocate, creative entrepreneur, and homeowner with a passion for historic architecture, design, and restoration. Originally from New York City, he owned property in Manhattan’s historic West Village, one of the city’s most celebrated landmarked neighborhoods, where he developed a deep appreciation for the stewardship of historic homes and communities.

He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography and has long been interested in the relationship between architecture, design, and the built environment. In 2012, Lawrence was ordained as a Zen monk in Las Vegas, a city whose distinctive history, architecture, and spirit of reinvention resonated deeply with him. Over time, that connection evolved into a lasting commitment to Southern Nevada and its architectural heritage.

Today, Lawrence is the owner and steward of Stardust Gold, a 1962 William Krisel-designed home in Las Vegas’s historic Paradise Palms neighborhood. Through a multi-year restoration, he has worked to preserve the home’s original mid-century modern character while thoughtfully adapting it for contemporary living.

In addition to his interests in preservation and design, Lawrence has a background in fitness, martial arts, and coaching. He enjoys sharing the lessons, challenges, and rewards of restoring historic properties and encouraging others to appreciate and preserve the architectural treasures within their own communities.

Our first Sunset Sip & Stroll brought out a phenomenal group of intrepid guests ready to beat the heat with a walk through the leafy, historic McNeil Estates. This neighborhood includes a variety of architectural styles and is loaded with stories of the movers and shakers who helped shape the city. Guests stayed refreshed with their personal beverages-what they were, we’ll never say!

If you see some superb photos on the NPF feed, they may have been taken by our effervescent volunteer Kendall!

After moving to Las Vegas with her fiancé in early 2025, Kendall began volunteering with the Nevada Preservation Foundation to build a deeper connection to her new city and its history. A leukemia survivor, Kendall emerged from her 2020 diagnosis with a renewed sense of purpose and gratitude. She created her brand, Sick Vampyre, to raise awareness about blood cancers and honor the donors who helped save her life.

A lifelong equestrian, animal lover, and creative spirit, Kendall brings nearly 30 years of experience in broadcast media. She began her career at just 14 years old at a local radio station and now runs her own media company, K-Talk Now ~ Aviva Las Vegas, while also working as a Sales Account Executive and On-Air Talent at KSHP Radio.

In 2011, Kendall launched Midikat, an online shop featuring her favorite vintage, thrift, and estate sale finds. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé and pets, thrifting, photography, gardening, cooking, baking, DIY projects, karaoke, and concerts—especially anything involving Mike Patton.

An avid admirer of mid-century homes, Kendall is proud to support NPF’s mission to preserve the architecture and history that make Las Vegas unique.

Any opportunity to visit the Morelli House is always a special one. And this evening was truly a treat as the UNLV Reid Public History Institute UNLV History and Home + History Las Vegas presented “Designing a City: Irwin Molasky and the Making of Mid Century Modern Las Vegas.” Members of the Molasky family spoke and many were in attendance. The night was standing room only and the panel provided lots of laughs with their recollections! Thanks to American Institute of Architects - Las Vegas Chapter for hosting us in their historic new home!
