Honoring Lieutenant Jeffrey Dean's 20 Years of Dedicated Service!

Last month, LVMPD Lieutenant Jeffrey Dean officially wrapped up an incredible 20-year career with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and made the well-deserved decision to retire to spend more quality time with his family.

Throughout two decades of commitment to protecting and serving our community, Jeff also stood up for his fellow officers as a Director of the LVPMSA. In his role representing supervisors, he worked tirelessly alongside our association to safeguard their rights, support member interests, and ensure strong representation across the department.

Thank you, Jeff, for 20 years of selfless service, leadership, and dedication to both the community and the members of the LVPMSA. We wish you and your family the very best in this next chapter! 💙

LVPMSA Remembers...

End of Watch: Tuesday, August 14, 1979

Police Officer Clark Wooldridge was killed in an automobile accident while responding to a report of a fight caused by a traffic crash. During the response his patrol car collided with another vehicle, overturned, and became engulfed in flames. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries two days later. Officer Wooldridge was 22.

LVPMSA Remembers...

End of Watch: August 11, 2021

Officer Philip Closi joined LVMPD on September 13, 2000. He was assigned to the Convention Center Area Command where he worked patrol. During his 21-year Metro career, he collaborated with educators on devising school violence awareness programs. He taught countless teenagers about the dangers of drugs and violence as a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) officer. Off duty, he continued his mentoring of kids as a coach for both of his children's hockey teams. Closi was passionate about helping others and served on the board of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association. He was known as a dedicated family man whose life reminded fellow officers that their families come first. Closi, 48, died from complications of COVID-19 on August 11, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and children Nicola and Jacob.

As we get back into the morning and afternoon routines, please remember to keep our roads safe for everyone. Our school crossing guards and traffic officers do incredible work every day keeping our kids safe—let’s make their job easier by following all traffic laws:

Obey posted school zone speed limits
Stop completely when a crossing guard steps into the street
No distracted driving—put the phones down!
