UNLV senior running back Jai’Den “Jet” Thomas is one of just 50 players in college football included on the 2026 Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List, released Monday by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Thomas (Atlanta, GA) earlier this month found his name on the Maxwell Award Watch List and now is a repeat member of the Walter Camp Watch List, the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade. Thomas was previously named Preseason First Team All-Mountain West as he enters his fourth season ranked eighth in school history in career rushing yards (2,457) and fifth in rushing touchdowns (31).

UNLV boasts more than one player on the Maxwell Award Watch List for the first time ever as senior running back Jai’Den “Jet” Thomas is a repeat honoree and is joined this time by new quarterback Jackson Arnold.

The Rebel duo is part of a list of just 81 players released Monday by the Maxwell Football Club in Philadelphia vying for the trophy that is presented at the end of every season to college football's overall player of the year.

Former UNLV football star and current assistant athletic director Hunkie Cooper was honored by Athlon Sports as one of the nation’s top player development leaders.

The former longtime professional player and coach, who was inducted into the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024, came in at No. 11 on the Top 25 list “recognizing leaders who invest in the total growth of student-athletes.” He was one of only two on the list from a Group of Six program.

A 2019 inductee into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame, Cooper returned to his alma mater in 2023 and currently holds the title of UNLV Assistant AD for Football Player Development & Community Engagement.

For the fourth consecutive year and for the 11th time in the award’s 14-year history, the UNLV Athletics Department is the winner of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union.

With all points now assigned, the Rebels took the all-encompassing competition with the Wolf Pack by the dominating final score of 34.5-13.5. UNLV’s point total was the most since 2019 and tied for the second-most scored by either side since the system was first introduced in 2013.

It’s that time again for our annual UNLV Football Foundation Golf Tournament—an event that continues to play a vital role in supporting our student-athletes and building a consistently competitive program.

With Coach Dan Mullen back for his second year and an outstanding recruiting class joining the team, the momentum around the Rebels has never been stronger. The program is positioned to compete for a Mountain West Championship and make a serious push for a Group of Five College Football Playoff spot.
