During National Police Week Memorial events in Washington, D.C. last week, an Honor Guard competition was held alongside a bagpipe band competition.

The Las Vegas Emerald Society Pipes & Drums, serving as the official pipe band for the LVMPD Honor Guard, proudly represented Southern Nevada on the national stage. The band includes LVMPD officers, members from other Nevada law enforcement agencies, and civilian musicians, many of whom are U.S. military veterans.

After three months of dedicated training, the Emerald Society Pipe Band earned 4th overall, placing 3rd in piping and 2nd in dress.

We are proud of their commitment, professionalism, and representation of LVMPD during National Police Week!

Honoring a Fallen Hero

During National Police Week in Washington, D.C., we had the privilege of standing alongside the NLVPD Honor Guard in support of fallen Officer Jason Roscow and his family.

Together, we provided a solemn welcome upon the family’s arrival at the airport and later stood in honor and remembrance at Officer Roscow's wreath memorial, ensuring his sacrifice was recognized with dignity and respect among fellow law enforcement agencies from across the country.

We remain committed to honoring our fallen and supporting the families they leave behind 💙

End of Watch: Deputy Sheriff Jack David London
May 17, 1943

Today, we honor and remember Deputy Sheriff Jack David London, who gave his life in the line of duty while. On May 17, 1943, Deputy London and his partner, Deputy Lynn McKnight, were stopped along Boulder Highway, assisting a soldier who was hitchhiking to Boulder City.

As the deputies flagged down a passing vehicle to help the soldier, the car approached at a high rate of speed and struck both deputies. Deputy McKnight was hit first and suffered a leg injury. Deputy London was then fatally struck and passed at the scene.

The driver and passenger were later stopped and arrested for Deputy London’s death. He was 46 years old. We honor his sacrifice, his service, and his dedication to duty, and will never be forgotten.

May 7, 2009

Today, we honor and remember Police Officer James “Jamie” Le’Treall Manor of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Jamie joined LVMPD on May 20, 2007. His imposing physical presence was matched only by the size of his heart and the strength of his character.

In the early morning hours of May 7, 2009, Manor was responding to a reported violent domestic disturbance when his patrol vehicle collided with another car. He later died from his injuries. He was just 28 years old.

We will never forget his courage, his service, or the sacrifice he made in the line of duty.

We also honored fallen NLVPD Officer Jason Roscow, whose name was enshrined on the memorial wall. Our Honor Guard Pipes & Drums represented LVMPD with pride and dignity during the solemn ceremony.

End of Watch: Sergeant Robert F. Dula, Jr.
April 9, 1955

Today, we honor the memory and service of Sergeant Robert F. Dula, Jr., who joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on June 16, 1952. On April 8, 1955, just minutes before the end of his shift, Sergeant Dula responded to a call for a citizen reportedly injured at Las Vegas Boulevard and Fremont Street. While answering that call, his patrol vehicle was struck by another car occupied by two juveniles who fled the scene. He was 26 years old.

Sergeant Dula's dedication, bravery, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
