Looks like it's time to ride off into the sunset on this unforgettable summer. 🤠

Over the past couple of weeks, our incredible Program Coordinator, Robert, and Horses 4 Heroes teamed up for an adventure to remember.

Every Monday, Robert gathered a posse of nearly 30 bright young cowboys and cowgirls for a special story time on the range. 'Showdown at Lonesome Pellet', 'Do Not Open This Book', and 'The Mud Pony' were among their favorite page-turning escapes.

Week after week, camp counselors, parents, and guardians all tipped their hats to Robert for sharing the joy of reading with their little buckaroos. In a world where screens often steal the spotlight, we know that kids still can't resist the thrill of a great story between the pages of a book.

We are incredibly grateful to MGM Resorts International for their generous $70,000 grant in support of Spread the Word Nevada's mission to advance childhood literacy across our state.

This meaningful investment will help expand our Books & Buddies mentor centers, providing more children with the one-on-one reading support they need to build confidence, strengthen literacy skills, and discover the joy of reading. Through the program, caring volunteer mentors meet weekly with students, helping them practice reading, improve comprehension, and develop a lifelong love of books in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Our programs are growing, and we’re looking for a Program Coordinator to join our team!

In this role, you’ll support our Readers in Training, Books & Buddies, and Breakfast and Snack Time with Books programs, helping create meaningful early literacy experiences for children and families across our community.

This position is a great fit for someone who is organized, passionate about early childhood education, and loves working directly with kids and families.
