Foster Kinship Foster Kinship provides free programs for kinship caregivers in NV.

By helping to “keep home in the family”, we envision a safe and healthy childhood for ALL children in kinship care. Foster Kinship was established as a 501(c)(3) organization in 2011 to help the 30,000 children living with relative caregivers in Nevada, also known as kinship care. Foster Kinship was founded with a mission to “strengthen the kinship caregivers’ capacity to provide safe, permanent, and nurturing homes for children.”

Nationally recognized, Foster Kinship is the only non-profit organization in Nevada exclusively serving kinship children and families. Since its inception, Foster Kinship has proudly served over 15,000 children and kinship caregivers across Nevada.

💗 WOW. Just WOW.

We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of the Las Vegas Chapter of National Charity League, Class of 2029!

At their Car Rally on September 19, this incredible group hosted a donation drive for Foster Kinship, and when we saw everything they collected, we could hardly believe it. 🥹

They showed up with SO many of the everyday essentials our families need: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, face wash, makeup wipes, feminine hygiene products, socks, underwear, bras, clothing, slippers, and even thoughtful extras like pimple patches. 💕🧴🧦

These may seem like ordinary items, but for a family that suddenly has another child coming into their home, or a caregiver already stretching a household budget, they matter tremendously. Having access to a new toothbrush, clean underwear, shampoo, period products or a pair of cozy slippers means one less thing a caregiver has to worry about and one more way a child can feel comfortable and cared for.

And they aren't stopping here! 🎉

The Class of 2029 is planning to join us by hosting a trunk at our upcoming Trunk-or-Treat, AND they're already preparing for a huge pajama drive in November! 🧡

To every member, family, volunteer and leader who helped make this drive such an incredible success: THANK YOU. Your generosity filled our shelves, but more importantly, it will directly support children and families throughout our community.

🎃 There are so many ways to help make Trunk or Treat special for Foster Kinship families.

For many families, Halloween is simply a fun night of costumes and candy.

But for some of the children we serve, school or community events can be overwhelming. Children who have experienced trauma, major changes, or difficult circumstances may struggle with crowds, unfamiliar environments, or behaviors that others don’t always understand.

At Foster Kinship’s Trunk or Treat, families don’t have to explain.

They’re surrounded by people who understand. 🧡

Caregivers can relax a little more. Kids can be themselves. And families get to enjoy a fun evening while connecting with other grandparents, relatives, and caregivers raising children in circumstances similar to their own.

It’s a chance to have fun, feel seen, and simply belong.

And you can help make that night possible.

Join us Friday, October 23 from 4–6 PM for costumes, candy, fun, and an evening spent with a community that understands. 🧡

One of the things we love most about events like Trunk or Treat is that they give kinship families more than just something fun to do together. They create space for caregivers and children to meet other families whose stories may look a little like their own.

There’s something special about being surrounded by people who understand the unexpected changes, challenges, joys, and love that can come with kinship caregiving, without needing a long explanation first.

As Kinship Care Month comes to a close, we keep coming back to the people at the heart of it all. 💙

The grandparents who became parents again.

The aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins, family friends, teachers, neighbors, and “aunties” and “uncles” who answered a phone call that changed everything.

The caregivers who said yes, sometimes with a plan, but so often without one.

Yes, you can stay with me.
Yes, I’ll figure this out.
Yes, you are safe here.
Yes, you are loved.

Kinship care can begin in an instant, but what comes afterward is built in thousands of ordinary moments.

It’s school drop-offs and bedtime routines. Appointments and paperwork. Learning new systems. Rearranging bedrooms, budgets, schedules, and sometimes entire lives.

It’s helping a child carry big feelings while carrying your own.

It’s showing up again tomorrow.

And again the day after that. 💗

This month, we’ve had the privilege of celebrating kinship families and sharing just a small glimpse of the strength, love, humor, resilience, and humanity within this community.

But our appreciation for you could never fit into one month.

To every kinship caregiver who has opened their home and rearranged their life so a child they love could remain connected to family and community: we see you. We celebrate you. And we are so incredibly grateful you are here.

September may be ending, but we’ll keep showing up beside you all year long.

A new week means more opportunities to connect, learn, and find support at Foster Kinship. 💙

This week, we have something for caregivers at many different points in their journey, from kinship licensing and caregiver support groups to Family Forward programming for parents working toward reunification.

And, of course, Marcie’s Heart Caregivers Corner Market will be open Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday for families who need clothing, essentials, and other resources. 🛍️💕

Whether you’re looking for information, practical resources, or simply a space with people who understand what you’re navigating, we hope you’ll join us.

There may be questions about custody or guardianship. New financial pressures. Benefits and paperwork. School and childcare changes. Immediate needs at home. A child processing trauma. And a caregiver trying to navigate systems they never expected to encounter.

That’s why Foster Kinship’s Kinship Navigator Program® looks at the whole picture.

Our team works alongside caregivers to understand what their family needs now and what they may need next. Through family advocacy and case management, we can help with:

💙 Sometimes traditional parenting strategies just… don't work.

Children who have experienced trauma, separation, instability, or major changes may communicate their needs through behaviors that can be confusing, frustrating, or overwhelming for the adults caring for them.

That's why Foster Kinship offers T.I.P.S. - Trauma-Informed Parenting Strategies.

TIPS gives caregivers practical tools to better understand what's happening underneath a child's behavior, respond with connection and compassion, and build strategies that support both the child AND the caregiver.
