Well, well...look who decided to join us!! Juan is back with the team! Big thanks to his wife Kristen for making that 9hr drive and getting him to us!!

In other news, we visited some of the past latrines today for follow up surveys aka we looked at p**p!! 🤔 We're happy to report that all latrines are functioning and being used properly, barring (1) that's experiencing unique drainage issues.

To conclude the day, we presented the education plan to new latrine recipents. They were taught how to maintain their latrines and what material to add (and not add) to obtain maximum results 😊

Yesterday we continued the hard work of building 2-pit compost latrines in Las Mojares. We were happy to be joined by the neighborhood kids who are always curious and happy to help. The highlight of the day was seeing their smiling faces again!!!

Now that we have a good meal in us, we'll continue on the latrines and start conducting surveys for the previous years' latrines!

After a long day in Las Mojares (and 1 flat tire), we're finally sitting down for our team dinner (and highs n lows) @ Aracelly's for some delicious Nicaraguan home cooking. We're making great progress on the latrines and are happy to see so many familar and welcoming faces from San Francisco Libre friends!!

After another year of preparation and hard work, we're pleased to annouce that 6 more families now have a safe sanitary place to use the restroom. It's something we may take for granted, but so many families either go in the woods or are using unsafe, poorly constructed latrines with whatever materials they can find. We feel very blessed to be able to provide them with a sustainable, safe compost latrine that they can use for years to come. Team 1 is now unwinding at the beach! And we'll meet with Team 2 to debrief and pass the baton so they can complete the remaining 6 latrines. Again, thank you to our sponsors, friends, and families for all of your support!!

Hi Everyone!! Here's another quick update from our Sanitation Improvement project in San Francisco Libre, Nicaragua. We're still making great progress. We now have all bases built and are completing more floor slabs tomorrow! The families are very involved in the construction and very excited and thankful to be getting latrines! We cant thank everyone enough for your support and donations!! Now that we've worked a 12 hour day...its time for bucket showers and sleep!! Buenos noches!!

Our final day in San Francisco Libre was extremely satisfying! We wrapped up the last few construction activities and bid farewell to the families, skilled laborers, and our gracious hosts Aracelly and Renee! Thanks again to our NGO, Bionic; our sponsors; Aracelly and Renee (for feeding us all of that good food); our laborers Wilson and Darwin and their crews; and our friends and families!! Everyone's support has made the 2nd phase of our composting latrine project a success!! A total of 18 families now have composting latrines and are living better lives!!
..oh and we finally let Andre drive...we didn't want to risk it any earlier in the trip! Lol
