Training the brain to “Think BIG.”🥊✨

For those with Parkinson’s, everyday tasks like buttoning a shirt or taking a step can become smaller and more restricted. LSVT BIG® isn’t just a workout; it’s a systematic retraining of the nervous system.

By utilizing large-amplitude exercises, the program helps translate clinical gains directly into daily life—improving everything from trunk rotation to walking speed. 16 sessions, 4 weeks, one goal: reclaiming the “BIG”movements that make life independent.

Nevada Dept of Education (NDE) Regulation R102-25 has reached the final stage of the rulemaking process and is expected to be considered at an upcoming Legislative Commission meeting prior to codification. This regulation revises the qualifications required for educational personnel endorsements. Specifically, it would require that physical therapists providing services to pupils in Nevada schools hold a doctorate degree in physical therapy, in addition to current licensure requirements .

The regulation also includes transitory language indicating that physical therapists employed in the school system on or before the effective date may continue in their roles without obtaining the additional degree, provided they maintain continuous employment. As written, this language may be interpreted narrowly, and its practical implications are not yet fully clear.

This change aligns with the profession’s transition to the DPT as the entry-level degree, though questions remain regarding how the transitory language will be applied to current school-based providers.

The regulation is anticipated to be considered by the Legislative Commission on or around April 28. We encourage you to review the proposed regulation and share your feedback. Review the full text with the link in our bio!

⚙️Movement with a mission.

Treating Parkinson’s requires more than just managing symptoms; it requires a coordinated strategy. That’s where the partnership between PT and OT comes in.

🏃‍♂️ Physical Therapy focuses on the mechanics of mobility—targeting gait, postural stability, and high-intensity exercise to build the strength and balance needed to prevent falls.

✍️ Occupational Therapy identifies strategies for meaningful engagement—evaluating hand coordination, cognitive-motor dual-tasking, and environmental adaptations to keep you independent in your work and hobbies.

By working in tandem, these therapists ensure that improvements in the clinic lead to real-world autonomy. Evidence shows that early, consistent intervention is the most effective way to stay ahead of the curve.

🥊 Seeing evidence in action at Rock Steady Boxing in Las Vegas

This isn’t just a standard boxing gym; it’s a focused environment where the fundamentals of the sport—agility, hand-eye coordination, and explosive movement—are used to counter the symptoms of Parkinson’s.

By prioritizing high-intensity, explosive exercise, the program helps participants maintain mobility and neurological function. It’s a great example of how specialized movement can bridge the gap between the gym and clinical rehab.

consequences across the profession.

Sunrise’s wage compression and stagnation has become so excessive, that the pay for PTAs can exceed what some PTs are making.
