🌡️ Over 500 Nevadans died from extreme heat in 2024. This May, Las Vegas hit 104°F, more than two weeks before the valley typically sees its first triple-digit day.

Last week, Rep. Dina Titus sat across from local doctors, workers, utility advocates, and community leaders at Whitney Library, a cooling center in East Las Vegas, to hear what that looks like on the ground.

What we told her: Extreme heat drives up energy bills, straining families, and puts more lives at risk than hurricanes, floods, and tornadoes combined. Clean energy helps us lower costs, strengthen our grid, and build resilience against extreme weather.

That’s why Rep. Titus is backing solutions like the Extreme Weather and Heat Response Modernization Act and the Energy Bills Relief Act to fund cooling centers, expand weatherization assistance, restore clean energy tax credits, and lower household energy bills.

The Reno consumer session is this Friday!

NV Energy overcharged customers for decades. Regulators found it. NV Energy paid $0 in fines. That’s a warning of what happens when no one shows up to hold them accountable

This Friday, you can be in that room to demand better.

📍 Friday, June 5 at 1:00 P.M.
Washoe County Commission Chambers
1001 E. 9th Street, Building A, Reno

Speak on the record. Tell the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada what fair energy costs mean to you and your family.

🧾 PSA: Our families paid for this.

10.5% of every Nevada Power bill in Southern Nevada goes straight to shareholder profit. In Northern Nevada, Sierra Pacific Power customers lose 13.4% of every bill the same way.

Shareholders pocketed that money by design. Meanwhile, NV Energy's parent company, Berkshire Hathaway Energy, paid its CEO $22 million last year.

This week, he and other utility executives are in Las Vegas for 's annual summit.

Find out exactly how much of your bill funds utility profit. Then show up and speak out at a Public Utilities Commission General Consumer session near you!

Our NV Energy bills went up. Gregory Abel's paycheck went up more.

Abel is CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, NV Energy's parent company. In 2025, he made $22,017,524. That's the 5th-highest utility CEO salary in the country.

These 10 utility CEOs collected more than $220 million last year.

This week, those same executives are in Las Vegas for Edison Electric's annual summit. Not to talk about your rising bills, but to celebrate the profits your payments made possible:
✈️ Private jets.
💰 Club memberships.
🎟️ Sports tickets.
Multi-million dollar salaries.

All of it funded by customers who don't have another option.

We're done watching this go unchallenged.

Tag Berkshire Hathaway Energy and tell them: Nevada is watching.

Southern Nevada lost more than 1,000 people to extreme heat in 2024 and 2025 combined.

Last week, we brought frontline advocates, clinicians, lawmakers, and Congresswoman Dina Titus to the table at Whitney Library to name what it will take to change that.

Rep. Titus said it plainly: we're playing defense, not offense. Air conditioning is a necessity, not a luxury. Workers deserve legal protections on 115-degree job sites. Families shouldn't have to choose between the electric bill and the rent.
