Trust is the backbone of our community, but right now, that trust is being tested.
The ACLU of Nevada has officially petitioned the Nevada Supreme Court to review the Metro-ICE 287(g) pact. This agreement allows local police to act as federal immigration agents, and let’s be clear: it’s a direct threat to the safety and unity of Las Vegas. When people are afraid to call for help because they fear deportation, we all lose.
At National Action Network Las Vegas, we believe in One Standard of Justice. That means justice doesn’t depend on where you were born or what your status is. Local law enforcement should be focused on protecting our neighborhoods, not doing the work of federal immigration authorities.
Dr. Robert D. Bush and the entire NAN LV team stand firmly with the ACLU and our immigrant brothers and sisters in this fight. This is a critical moment for civil rights in our city. We won’t stop until every member of our community can feel safe and respected by the people sworn to protect them.
Let’s keep pushing for a system that builds trust, not walls.
