These kids were having a blast! They ate hot dogs, hamburgers, swam and played Jenga for the first time. A real welcome to American BBQ. Cultural question... does anyone know if you aren't supposed to smile for photos in Congo? They would become serious just to take the picture... We are learning everyday just like they are. If you'd like to get involved let us know!

A family in Congo with a young daughter ran to find safety. They ended up in Uganda, a neighboring country, in a huge refugee camp run by the UN. They lived for 16 years in that camp and had 4 more children. They are thrilled to be recently resettled here in Las Vegas, with a chance at freedom and safety, an opportunity for education and jobs and a safe place to live. Nearly every week we have families arrive to start a new life here in Las Vegas. It is a hard transition for them and we work hard every day to help them. We have the best jobs in the world to help families like this one. We always need help and our families always need friends. Check out our website for volunteer opportunities.

In many cities the Federal Government contracts with organizations to resettle refugees, special visa holders and asylum seekers. We are one of two organizations in Las Vegas. Everyday we help resettle and assist people from many countries. Just a list of those countries from the last few years, Congo, Afghanistan, Iran, Eritrea, Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Colombia, Sudan, Burma, Guatemala and Rwanda.
