In 2006 on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, 15 Black sports professionals from the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Guardians—who all didn’t know each other—met at the Ritz Carlton for a powerful moment of awareness, community, and a commitment to create a change.

From that meeting, the decision was made to develop an organization that would turn into National Society of Black Sports Professionals, affectionately known as BSP.

2️⃣0️⃣ years of building what others already had.
2️⃣0️⃣ years of pouring into ourselves and our community.
2️⃣0️⃣ years of growth.

Throughout the year, BSP will be sharing its storied and important history in connecting, empowering, and advancing Black professionals and students in the sports industry.

In honor of National Black Women In Sports Day (July 7), Diverse Representation partnered with Wasserman to release a first-of-its-kind report examining the role, influence, and visibility of Black women in the sports industry. The first part of the report, available now at https://www.diverserepresentation.com/impact-report, focuses on Black women sports agents and Black women sports fans.

The second part of the report, which will be released this fall, will focus on Black women sports executives and Black women athletes.
