We had such a lovely time at our gathering on Friday at Lee Meadow. It was a much needed respite from the Las Vegas heat and quite a delightful Whitsun potluck picnic ✨

The beauty of Whitsun is each person finding the balance between their own individual freedom and the well-being and furtherance of the community, out of understanding and respect for each. It is when we strive to come together with a new and developing understanding of each other ✨

We wish you the happiest Whitsun 🕊

Our garden beds are springing to life with the cheerful emergence of new sprouts, fruits and vegetables! The grades children have been mindfully tending to our budding nursery, making sure they are kept well hydrated and not receiving too much sun. Much work goes into growing food in our valley, as the sun can be quite overbearing.

Gardening is an important part of the third grade curriculum, as the children experience the nine year change. According to Steiner, this is a meaningful time of transition marking the crossing of the dividing line between early childhood and full childhood. To learn more about this period, please see the link in our bio ✨

This past nature day we decided to stay on campus to better accommodate the needs of our community while spending time with old friends.

When the children came together for their nature crafting lesson, they were excited to see the beets, turmeric, cacao powder, carrots, hibiscus flowers, and spirulina powder before them. Their eyes widened once they started to grate the carrots and beets, and mix the other ingredients with water. One by one, the ingredients in the bowls came to life and the children were delighted with their natural paints. They spent quite some time painting, mixing colors, and experimenting with more or less water. Of course they had to taste the mixtures as well! ☺️

We are committed to serving the needs of our community ✨ If you would like to have your child join us for the day, please complete our drop in participation form *link in bio*

Our glorious garden beds have come to life! The children excitedly planted starters and seeds 🪴Chocolate mint, purple bell peppers, cilantro, parsley, pumpkins, strawberries, watermelon, corn, tomatoes, sunflowers, and snap peas 🤗 We are now keeping a close eye on our garden nursery to make sure the starters adjust well to being replanted and the seeds get enough water. We are excited to start growing our own food!

“Working productively with our hands is profoundly pleasurable. There is something primal about this. We are made to be active, and have actively used our hands as part of our daily survival for thousands of years,” writes physician Susan Biali Haas M.D. “With the advent of so much technology, many of us move through our days with minimal physical effort…Overall, we get far less physical activity than would be optimal for our bodies and minds.”

Fascinating things happen with your brain when you work with your hands! Each day, our students work with their hands and move their bodies as we incorporate the arts, movement, and practical work throughout our curriculum 🌿

The grades children have spent the last couple of days building their shops in the magic garden; just in time for today’s beginner lesson about money. This morning they each took turns visiting each other’s restaurants and stores, reading the menus, placing their orders, counting the proper payment for their goods and then working on fulfilling the orders.

They were so overjoyed to have spent this glorious time playing today 🌿

These beautiful tree stumps and logs are holding the space for what will soon become the children's sand box - a shared space for the children to create, climb, construct and connect.

Children have a strong inner connection with nature and deeply benefit from having it as an enriched learning environment. In this warm, safe space, they will overcome challenges, build self reliance and learn more about social interactions.

It will be just about another week before we are able to begin enjoying the delightful imaginative play that will come alive in this space! ☺️

Last week our Nature Day brought us to Hualapai Park. The children were given a painting kit and were asked to select a plant to draw. They excitedly chose their leaf or bush and mindfully painted for quite some time!

We hope to see you on one of our Nature Days! Today we will be painting at the Whitney Mesa Recreation area 🤗

What fun it is working with dough! The kindy children have been listening to the story of Hansel and Gretel and set out to make a salt dough house like the one in the story. Once they form the pieces of the house, they will be baked and the children will paint them 🎨🖌

March 17th was quite the busy day! In learning about St. Patrick’s Day, the kindy children held a treasure hunt leading them to small satchels of golden trinkets.

The middle of the day brought us all together as we shared a special snack and celebrated a birthday 🎂

After lunch, the grades children learned about Purim. In honor of the holiday, they carefully crafted peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to be paired with water bottles trail mix bars.

Once the bags were compiled, off we went on our journey to distribute them to people in need. At first the children were a little shy, but they quickly struck up conversations with the people at the park. The children were happy to be able to help people who were thirsty and hungry.

It was heartwarming to see the children helping those in need, and watch the day’s lessons unfold not merely in their ears, but in their hearts and their minds as well.

The feeling in the room during this song was palpable. The energy of students deeply connected to their teacher. A teacher deeply connected to her students. What a beautiful way to start the day 🌿

Through music we refine the capacity to connect. To harmonize. To resolve dissonance. To heal. To think. To feel. To mature. To make sound judgement. To vibrate. To tune. To move about the world with wholeness. To develop and hold onto that sense that the world is good.
