HEARTBREAKING: Eleven-year-old Brandon Dominguez was shot and killed during a road rage incident while riding in the back seat of his step-father’s car on a congested Nevada highway on Friday.

An online fundraiser said that Brandon was “the light of our family — our happy, loving boy with the biggest heart, the silliest personality, and a joy that filled every room he entered.”

People in other countries experience road rage, but only in America is someone wounded or shot in a road rage incident on average every 18 hours. This is a result of the gun lobby’s “guns everywhere for anyone” vision for America.

A GoFundMe page for the child who was shot and killed described him as a “happy, loving boy” who was an eager learner that loved playing soccer and Roblox.

🚨Instead of trying to end the shutdown, House Republicans are working to pass a dangerous gun bill that would override state gun safety laws on who can carry hidden, loaded guns in public. No mother should have to run barefoot toward gunfire to save their child, but that’s exactly what this mom instinctively did when she learned about the horrific mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School yesterday.

Images like this are hard to look at, but we cannot look away. We must do everything we can to prevent another parent from experiencing this same panic, fear, and devastation.

Two children—just 8 and 10 years old—were shot and killed at a back-to-school mass at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis yesterday. Seventeen others, including 14 children, were wounded.

Back to school should never mean back to school shootings. This is the devastating reality of America’s gun violence crisis—and it will not end until lawmakers take meaningful action.

In incidents of school shootings, data shows that shooters are often current or former students and that the guns they use are most often obtained from their home or the homes of their relatives. Securing guns plays a huge role in keeping our schools safe.

Homes aren’t the only place that children can access unsecured guns. With alarming regularity, kids access and discharge guns that have been stored under a car seat, in an unlocked glove box or center console, or in a car door compartment.

During SMART Week, we’re leveraging the Be SMART framework to reach more people and ensure that secure gun storage practices—in homes AND vehicles—become the norm in our communities, especially as kids return to their classrooms.
