We showed up with truth, lived experience, and urgency — even when the process moved faster than transparency.

Lawmakers advanced AB4 without giving our people a real chance to be heard.

Now, everything rests with the Governor.

AB4 just passed out of committee. Senators Edgar Flores and James Ohrenschall were the ONLY “no” votes.

Now the bill is headed to the Senate floor, and this is the last chance to stop it.
We need every single Nevadan to contact their senator immediately.

AB4 is a mass-incarceration bill that creates new crimes, expands felonies, removes judicial discretion, and accelerates deportations. It will harm Black, brown, immigrant, and working-class communities across Nevada. We cannot let this pass quietly.

This is not safety — it’s surveillance, punishment, and an expansion of the carceral system.

In the Spirit of Black August, we invite ALL comrades and revolutionaries to join us for an evening of food, music and art 🖤

We are intentionally breaking our fast collectively and invite you to be apart of our Free Black August Community Feast. The music and art at this event will highlight the struggle.

Percy Hawkins would have turned 38 years old on August 30th, and with the blessing of his family, we will also honor his life as it aligns with the ongoing struggle for Black Liberation 🖤✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

This is a beautiful way to close out Black August, but remember the month may end but the spirit of all freedom fighters and political prisoners live through the work we will continue to do

As we enter the last week of Black August, we have to uplift our comrade — Rickie Slaughter — who’s been grinding with us from behind the walls. From raising funds and shaping policy, to publishing children’s books and leading political education workshops over prison phone calls — he’s managed to hold steady in the midst of inhumane conditions and devastating set backs. He continues to fight not just for his own freedom, but for second chances for incarcerated people across the board.

As many of you have seen in the media, High Desert State Prison is in crisis — with six murders in the last 30 days. While media reports it is “drug deals gone bad,” the truth is the violence stems from the state’s own neglect: lack of dignity, lack of mental health care or medical care, lack of programming, diminished visits, excessive lockdowns, lack of nutrition, and an overall refusal to treat incarcerated people as human beings. The state creates the very conditions for the violence it claims to want to solve. Inside/outside organizing isn’t optional — it’s necessary.

Let’s start Black August with a Black August Bookfair that’s about the “study” principle 📕

Tap n with Black books on resistance, abolition and liberation for our people- the books they’re banning and not teaching us in school. Highlighting figures from George Jackson to Mumia Abu Jamal.

AND we got an open mic- pull up and vibe with local Black artists as they shed light on what we’ve been going thru.

Black August is not widely recognized here in Las Vegas, we’re trying to shift the narrative. We’re making space for US. For the revolutionaries and radicals and the ones who may not be there yet but want to be in community ✊🏽
