When you get a new diagnosis of Down syndrome - especially if it's a prenatal one at 17 weeks gestation - all you know about your baby is the diagnosis. Fast forward to all the things you learn about your little one's personality in his first 20 months of life: yeah, he still has Down syndrome, but he's just him. And in this case, he loves Michael Jackson music which is way more interesting than his diagnosis!

Julian's mom says, "He’s taught me that everyone has their own path in life. Some take the highway, some take detours, and some take the scenic route, but there’s no right or wrong way to get there. And with music in the background even better! ❤️"

We need your feedback! Down Syndrome Connections is already planning next year's Annual Las Vegas Down Syndrome Conference and here is what could change:
- offer a childcare option (extra cost)
- replace drum circle with ICE CREAM SOCIAL and prize giveaways at the end of the day
- revisit pricing depending on venue and speakers
- explore new time of year - Oct or possibly Jan/Feb. feedback from survey did not like summer months option.
- explore how to serve the age spectrum better (need committee members from all age groups served to participate! what topics are YOU curious about?)
- possibly not have exhibitors or do the ice cream social in the exhibit hall
food - room to improve. new option for next year.

POSSIBLE SESSIONS:
- The Best Advice I Ever Got: Parent Panel across the age spectrum, with walking groups to separate by age group to different corners of the room and report back. "influencer" to lead it or to be on panel???
- Down Syndrome Regression Disorder: Update on Available Treatments and Outcomes
- Dads of Down Syndrome
- Special Needs Trust Basics: what are they, what do they cost, what makes them important, how often should they be updated
- Changes in financial planning due to changes in federal policy and spending
- legislation changing in Nevada after 2027 session

Contact [email protected] to offer your help. Committee meets once a month via zoom for 1 hour 1 min, depends on when committee members can attend and would help on the day of the event. Committee members are eligible for free conference registration.

First things first: not everyone knows what Down syndrome is. But it's the most common chromosomal difference, with no known cause.

You can't catch it. The parents didn't do anything to cause it.

People with Down syndrome have varied skill levels. They are unique. Some people with Down syndrome have significant needs; most will need help with some aspects of their lives, but all have strengths, too.

Down Syndrome Connections mission: Nurturing people with Down syndrome, and their families, through community and connections.
