To experience the loss of a child is the worst pain a human can ever endure. In this pain how could we ever think that we are chosen by God, favored? Most of us become angry at God constantly asking why? Why my child? Why the pain? Why the suffering? And in the midst of that suffering people begin to fall away from you as you find yourself isolated in the thin air barely able to breathe. It is in this journey of pain, suffering, and breathlessness that you discover in your loneliness that God has favored you to carry not just your legacy but also the legacy of your child. Two lives that dreamt of accomplishing so much but now you must do it alone and you need God's strength and favor to achieve that. The isolation makes room for God to embrace you, to carry you. With the mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion of grief we need this, we need Him. We also need that isolation to embrace our child in the grief and as God holds us, giving us His Strength, carrying us to greater heights, closer to Heaven where, when we're done, we'll walk with Him to the greatest height of Heaven. As we meet our child once more, embrace them and feel our pain melt away, completely gone, they will know and thank us for carrying on when they couldn't and enduring for them.
