Not every career begins with a perfectly mapped-out plan. 🎙️

For Gabi Hackbarth, the journey started in Mililani, Hawaii, continued through life as a student-athlete, and eventually brought her to Las Vegas, where a love of sports began evolving into a career in the industry.

But figuring out what came next wasn’t always clear.

Through new experiences, continued education, and the relationships she built along the way, Gabi began discovering where her interests could take her.

Gabi shares her journey from student-athlete to sports professional and the experiences that helped shape the path she’s still building today.

Welcome to Season 3 of the AAPI Leadership Lab Podcast! 🎙️

We’re kicking off a brand-new season with Gabrielle Hackbarth, Manager of Corporate Partnerships Activation for the Las Vegas Lights Football Club .

From growing up in Hawaii and competing as a student-athlete to building a career in the professional sports industry, Gabi’s journey hasn’t followed a perfectly mapped-out path. It’s been shaped by unexpected transitions, difficult setbacks, meaningful relationships, and a willingness to step into opportunities before knowing exactly where they might lead.

In this episode, Rico sits down with Gabi to explore what it takes to navigate uncertainty, build resilience, embrace discomfort, and continue moving forward when your career doesn’t unfold the way you expected.

What happens when the path you planned suddenly changes?

And what can those unexpected turns teach us about the leader we’re becoming?

Sometimes the path to your dream starts somewhere you never expected. ✨

Growing up, LeShelle Kaul knew she wanted to create something of her own, she just didn’t know what that “something” would be.

Her journey initially led her toward healthcare and optometry. But when a friend encouraged her to focus on fitness, nutrition, and meal prepping, one recipe became another…and eventually, other people started noticing. 👀

What began as taking better care of herself would become the early foundation for End Goal.

What makes a place feel like home? 🏠✨

For LeShelle Kaul, Las Vegas is more than where she grew up, it’s a city intertwined with her family’s story.

From her father immigrating from the Philippines to her parents building careers in architecture and civil engineering, LeShelle reflects on growing up alongside a changing Las Vegas and watching her family contribute to the community she now proudly calls home.

And no matter how far she travels, there’s something about seeing those Las Vegas lights again that tells her: I’m home. ❤️
