We’re grateful for the outpouring of support following the evacuations due to the Hawk Fire. The fastest and most effective way to help people displaced by this fire is through a financial donation.

Donations of clothing, food and household items can take time and resources away from providing immediate assistance. Financial donations can be used right away to meet urgent needs, including replacing prescription medications, eyeglasses and other essentials.

When possible, the Red Cross works with local organizations that accept donated goods. Before collecting or dropping off clothing or household items, please call 211 to find an organization able to receive them.

While residents evacuate from the , Red Cross volunteers are working tonight to make sure there is a safe place ready for them.

Teams are setting up cots, bringing in supplies and preparing the Reno-Sparks Convention Center to welcome anyone who needs shelter or assistance.

These volunteers will remain on the ground helping residents for as long as needed.
