It's WHRC Wednesday! This week, we kindly direct your attention to the October "From the Archives" blog post, where we take a look at some of the early GFWC leaders featured in one of the treasures of the WHRC collections: the "Founders Book." Prepared around 1894, this unique volume includes essays, club lists, and - best of all - over thirty original photographs of women who led the early Federation, without whose work the organization might not have endured for over a century.

A special thank-you to Cecelia Lopez of Opera Las Vegas for joining the Mesquite Club, Inc. at our September 25 business meeting!

Cecelia shared her journey from growing up in an immigrant family working on Idaho farms, where she sang with her mother and brother as they picked crops, to performing opera today. She also told us about Opera Las Vegas’s upcoming season and treated us to a beautiful aria.

Thank you, Cecelia, for sharing your story, your time, and your remarkable voice with us!

What a wonderful Welcome Back Luncheon!

Our members enjoyed a delicious Western-themed menu, wonderful fellowship, and plenty of country fun as we kicked off another exciting club year.

We were pleased to welcome Joseph Fernandez, Assistant Principal of Doris French Elementary School, and present the generous in-kind donations collected by our members for the school.

We also had a surprise visit from Clark County School District Board Trustee Linda Cavazos—what a wonderful addition to our Welcome Back celebration!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the luncheon a memorable day of friendship, fellowship, and community service.
