Nepal Without Limits

Nepal Without Limits A non-profit organization, supporting remote villages in Nepal. Our motto is trekking with a purpose. In December of that year Nepal Without Limits was created.

Nepal Without Limits is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit rganization that combines trekking with outreach to the most impoverished communities in Nepal. Our mission is to provide trekkers, mountain climbers and tourists to Nepal with the opportunity of not only experiencing the most spectacular geographic beauty of the country but also with being able to connect, influence and support communities they are

privileged to visit through monetary contribution, donation of clothing, school supplies, and hygiene products or volunteering on the ground. The charity was conceived at the footstep of the highest mountain in the world. In January 2020, while trekking to the Everest Base Camp, Joanna Steinel and her guide Ram Magar were brainstorming ideas how they could combine their passion for adventure and mountains with an outreach to the most impoverished communities in Nepal. Ram Magar is a trekking and mountaineering guide, licensed with the Nepali Department of Tourism with over 20 years of experience. Joanna Steinel has been a special education and kindergarten teacher and children's yoga instructor for the last 25 years in Las Vegas. They both share a passion for adventure, but also for community involvement. Ram has been on the board of school directors and is involved in multiple community projects. Joanna has been a volunteer at a Las Vegas hospice and is an outspoken advocate for children and the most vulnerable in her community. In May 2022 Nepal Without Limits is planning its inaugural
climb of Mera peak that will be combined with raising funds for students in three elementary schools in Solukhumbu region.

The most mysterious child in Nepal.

She doesn't play in the streets.

And for years, people bow to her as a living goddess.

Hidden among the ancient courtyards of Kathmandu lives a young girl known as the "Kumari"

Chosen through a centuries-old tradition, she becomes the living embodiment of divine power.

Visitors gather outside her residence, waiting patiently for a brief glimpse through an intricately carved wooden window.

For a few seconds, she appears.

The crowd falls silent.

Some believe her blessing brings good fortune.

Others come simply to witness one of the world's most unique traditions.

While the modern world races forward, this ancient custom continues to survive in the heart of Nepal.

It's a place where history isn't locked inside a museum.

It's still living.

Travel isn't always about discovering new places.

Sometimes it's about discovering traditions so different that they challenge everything you thought you knew.

What's the most unusual tradition you've ever seen or heard about anywhere in the world?

On April 25th, 2015 Nepal suffered the worst natural disaster since 1934 Nepal-India earthquake: the Gorkha earthquake which killed 8,962 people and injured 21,952 across the countries of Nepal, India, China and Bangladesh. Its epicenter was east of Gorkha District at Barpak, about 85 km (53 mi) northwest of central Kathmandu.
Laxmi's village, Lapubesi is in the Gorkha region as well. Just yesterday, she shared pictures from May 2016 when she and James met with Prince Harry when he visited the region and was part of Team Rubicon working on the rebuilding projects. Lapubesi was a sight of our first uniform distribution project in March of 2021 and of our last one in November 2025 when we distributed 300 winter sweaters to students in three different schools. Our hope is to return to the village next year with a women and children outreach project.

6 years ago, in January 2020 we completed our first trek together to the Everest Base Camp!
During that trip the idea of Nepal Without Limits was born.
We are so grateful 🙏 for all we have been able to accomplish since then with the support of so many generous people.
We are looking forward to new treks and community projects in 2026 and beyond!
