Our chapter co-chair Garima Bhardwaj along with her daughter visited Akshay Patra Bhopal kitchen in India to see the Akshay Patra Kitchen in action.

The food preparation starts at 5.30 a.m. in the morning. All containers are well sanitized and filled with hot food to deliver across hundreds of kids in several schools across the city. This is real work, dedication and an assurance that every dollar donated is actually put to work every single day making a difference.

Akshay Patra firmly believes that investing in child nutrition and education is one of the most effective entry points for human development. Driven by this belief, the organization strive to provide children with a hot, nutritious and tasty mid-day meal every school day as an incentive to come to school. Thus, the vision – ‘No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger.’

Mrs. Udita Garg and Mr. Puneet Garg our Chapter chairs recently visited Akshay Patra's Kitchen in New Delhi along with their daughters. The evidence is seen in these videos that the food is being meticulously prepared, served hot every single day.

Akshaya Patra refers to both a legendary inexhaustible vessel from Hindu mythology, and the organization's mission is inspired by the legendary vessel, aiming to ensure no child is deprived of education due to hunger.

For those who are new the Akshaya Patra Foundation, a large-scale public-private partnership in India that provides nutritious mid-day meals to millions of school children daily. This organization was founded in 2000 to address childhood hunger and improve educational outcomes.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation operates large, centralized kitchens, leveraging technology and partnerships to deliver meals to children in government schools and Anganwadi centers across various states in India, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals of Zero Hunger and Quality Education. They also provide emergency food assistance during crises and support other vulnerable groups like widowed mothers and underprivileged families of young kids.

Our las Vegas Chapter us fairly new to this cause and concept. We are trying to help the little children.

What if every child in India had a meal to help them stay focused at school?

Right now, we’re expanding to new areas where children still go without food. These children are ready to learn, but they need our help. We’ve made incredible progress, but we still have a long way to go. By donating a kitchen, you could provide meals for an entire community. Each kitchen supports between 10,000 to 120,000 meals per day, feeding children who would otherwise go hungry.
