Today, on National Apraxia of Speech Awareness Day, we honor the many ways communication exists beyond spoken words.
For some children, words don’t come easily, but that does not mean they have nothing to say. Communication can look like gestures, movement, devices, expressions, connection, trust, persistence, and love. Sometimes the loudest messages are spoken completely without words.

Watching AJ and Alaia grow through speech therapy has been a reminder that every sound, sign, attempt, and breakthrough deserves to be celebrated. Progress is not always measured in sentences, it’s measured in courage, connection, and being understood.

To our incredible former speech therapist-turned friend, Sabrina, thank you!! Your compassion, energy, patience, and unwavering dedication have been such a gift to our families. The way our children feel safe with you, trust you, and gravitate toward you without hesitation says more than words ever could. You make learning feel joyful, safe, and empowering, and we are endlessly grateful for the role you play in their journey.

Today we raise awareness, but more importantly, we choose understanding, patience, inclusion, and celebration for every voice; spoken or unspoken. 💙

As Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month comes to a close, we want to share something that means so much to us.
Athena, the “A” in CAL’s, was officially diagnosed with autism this month.
For so long, moving through life feeling misunderstood, mislabeled, or unsure of who you are can be incredibly heavy. Receiving this diagnosis didn’t change who Athena is, it just brought clarity. It validated experiences and challenges that came from navigating a world not always built to understand her and people like her.
Athena pours into the autism community every single day. Through her inclusive home-based pre-k, CAL’s Inclusion Club, and the way she shares knowledge and lived experience on social media, she shows just how important support, awareness, and true inclusion are. Because of her passion and determination to create environments where people like her are truly seen and understood, Athena is helping pave the way for others so they don’t have to grow up feeling lost, alone, or misunderstood.
We are so proud of Athena for all she does to uplift and support this community. And we know her younger self is proud of her too.

If you have any questions about how you or your loved one can get evaluated, we encourage you to reach out to where they evaluate children, teens, and adults for autism.

Spaces like this matter more than words can hold.
At the Artism Gallery Night, CAL’s Inclusion Club witnessed something powerful; autistic individuals expressing themselves freely, creatively, and authentically.
Art becomes a voice when words feel hard. It becomes connections, release, identity, and joy.
Creating environments where differences are not just accepted, but celebrated, opens doors for confidence, community, and belonging.
Tonight was a reminder that when we make space, they shine. ✨
