Today, on National Apraxia of Speech Awareness Day, we honor the many ways communication exists beyond spoken words.
For some children, words don’t come easily, but that does not mean they have nothing to say. Communication can look like gestures, movement, devices, expressions, connection, trust, persistence, and love. Sometimes the loudest messages are spoken completely without words.
Watching AJ and Alaia grow through speech therapy has been a reminder that every sound, sign, attempt, and breakthrough deserves to be celebrated. Progress is not always measured in sentences, it’s measured in courage, connection, and being understood.
To our incredible former speech therapist-turned friend, Sabrina, thank you!! Your compassion, energy, patience, and unwavering dedication have been such a gift to our families. The way our children feel safe with you, trust you, and gravitate toward you without hesitation says more than words ever could. You make learning feel joyful, safe, and empowering, and we are endlessly grateful for the role you play in their journey.
Today we raise awareness, but more importantly, we choose understanding, patience, inclusion, and celebration for every voice; spoken or unspoken. 💙
