Las Cruces Ukes The Las Cruces Ukes is a community group of ukulele enthusiasts. We host adult practices, a Teen Club, and the annual Las Cruces UkeFest.

We also perform at various events in the community. The Las Cruces Ukes is a nonprofit community group of ukulele enthusiasts. We practice Thursday evenings at Good Samaritan, 3011 Buena Vida Circle, in the Social Center's Creative Arts Room. The Strum for Fun group practices from 5:30 - 6:15 p.m. and we have sometimes mentors available to help brand-new players. We even have loaner uses for the e

vening! Our performance group practices from 6:15 -7 p.m. We perform beloved songs of years gone by and enjoy playing just for fun or to entertain audiences. We've been honored to receive numerous standing ovations, so we must be doing something right! The Las Cruces UkeFest is our biggest event of the year. We’re not alone in our desire to make music! Join us Thursdays for Strum for Fun from 5:30 to 6:15 at Las Cruces Village, 3011 Buena Vida Circle.

Just shy of his 69th birthday, the author Tim Parks decided to pick up the mandolin again. At first, it felt like a daunting task. Even though he played for hours a day, his fingers felt stiff and he lacked technique. Seeking camaraderie in this endeavor, Parks wondered if he was singular in his new hobby. He found out he wasn’t. “If this attempt to reclaim the instrument of my youth had been a mistake, I wasn’t alone in making it. Asking around, I became aware of other older people who were returning to music or even taking it up for the first time,” Parks writes. BARI BIG NEWS!! So happy to let you all know that the baritone edition of the Daily Ukulele: Another Year has been officially green-lit! Hard at work on it now as I write this. It should go quickly and I'll keep you posted on our progress and time-tables. Please share the news with all the bari uke lovers in your life! And, many thanks for all of your emails requesting it. It worked!
