📚🦎 TUESDAY REPTILE TIP: NEVER STOP LEARNING!

One of the best things you can do for your reptile is to keep learning about its needs.

Reptile husbandry is more than providing food and a place to live. Every species has specific requirements that help it stay healthy and thrive.

Here are four areas every reptile keeper should understand:

🌡️ Temperature: Does your reptile have the appropriate temperatures and a suitable temperature gradient?

☀️ Lighting: Does your species need UVB lighting? If so, is it appropriate and properly maintained?

🥬 Nutrition: Are you providing the right foods, supplements, and feeding schedule for your species?

🏠 Habitat: Does your enclosure provide suitable space, hides, substrate, enrichment, and access to fresh water?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, consult reputable husbandry resources, or seek guidance from a qualified reptile veterinarian.

The more we learn, the better prepared we are to meet the needs of the animals in our care. 💚

🦎🥬 BEARDED DRAGON NUTRITION: MORE THAN JUST CRICKETS!

Bearded dragons are popular reptile companions, but proper nutrition involves more than offering a bowl of insects.

Bearded dragons are omnivores, and their dietary needs change as they grow. A suitable diet includes the right balance of plant foods and appropriate animal-based foods for their age and individual needs.

Here are a few important nutrition reminders:

🥬 Offer suitable greens and vegetables. Choose nutritious options appropriate for bearded dragons.

🦗 Provide appropriate feeder insects. Consider species, size, quality, and feeding frequency.

🦴 Understand calcium and supplementation. Requirements depend on diet, age, UVB exposure, and husbandry. Ask a qualified reptile veterinarian for guidance.

☀️ Don’t overlook UVB lighting. Appropriate UVB exposure is important for calcium metabolism and bone health.

💧 Pay attention to hydration and overall health. Changes in appetite, weight, or behavior may need veterinary attention.

A bearded dragon can look adorable while still having husbandry needs that aren’t being met. Learning the basics before bringing one home helps set both you and your reptile up for success.

You see the adorable reptile faces, but have you ever wondered what goes into feeding the animals at a rescue? 💚

Feeding time is about more than putting food into an enclosure. It takes planning, preparation, observation, and knowledge of each animal’s individual needs.

Depending on the species, feeding routines may include:

🥬 Preparing appropriate greens and vegetables.

⚖️ Monitoring body condition and weight when needed.

🌵🦎 WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY: WHAT DO REPTILES EAT IN THE WILD? 🐍🐢

Have you ever wondered what reptiles eat when nobody is filling their food bowls?

The answer depends on the species and the ecosystem it lives in!

🌿 Some tortoises eat grasses, leaves, flowers, and other vegetation.

🐜 Many lizards eat insects and other small invertebrates.

🐍 Some snakes hunt rodents, birds, eggs, or other suitable prey, depending on their species.

🦎 Other reptiles have more specialized diets that help them survive in their natural habitats.

Would you feed a tortoise, a leopard gecko, and a bearded dragon exactly the same meal? Of course not! 🐢🦎

Different species have different nutritional needs, and even reptiles within the same species may need different diets depending on their age, health, and life stage.

Here are a few important reminders:
