We had a great time at the Stevens Point rock swap today. The weather was perfect - a bit hot, but hey, it’s mid-August. In the shade with a nice breeze it was pleasant. Lots of familiar faces and eager shoppers!

Hey folks! One of our members, and longtime show vendors, took a big hit in last month’s tornado. Johanna Ciske lived very close to Manderfield’s Bakery and as you’ve all seen in photos, that area was hard hit. Johanna had her garage totaled (with two cars inside, also totaled) and is hopeful that her house can be saved. Please keep her in your thoughts.

Just a reminder that there is no OESC meeting in August. We will meet again on Monday, September 14th (NOT the 7th which is Labor Day). See you in September!

To all of our OESC friends: just wanted to let you know that Al and I are fine. We did not have as much damage as many of our neighbors. Our immediate area took a heavy hit as far as trees go, but a few blocks to the east the damage was horrific . We will need some work done but nothing compared to the folks in the City of Menasha. It was terrifying and I never want to go through that again, but we were luckier than most. The red dot is where we live.

We have our monthly club meeting on Monday, July 6th at 6:30 in the Roland Rooms of Evergreen. We will be discussing the final details for our September Show, including signing up to work.

We also have elections coming up this fall, so please consider volunteering your time to be a club officer. It's not hard and you'll have plenty of support. Our current officers have been serving for a long time and they could use a break. The positions of President, Vice President and Secretary will be available.

We don't have a theme for this month's meeting, but it was brought to my attention that some members asked for another Sell/Swap night, so lets do that. As before, we will conduct our club business, then following the door prizes, have members display items they have that they would like to sell or swap. It was fun last time! Bring a friend and some cash!

See you Monday!

Jim Prosser
OESC President

ps. As usual, we will not have a meeting in August as most members are out and about on vacations.

A blast from the past! 14 years ago Mike Riesch led us to a Door County farm to hunt for fossils. What a great day.
