American Legion Post #97's Annual Fishing Derby a Resounding Success!
American Legion Post #97 hosted its Annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, February 7th, at the scenic Larimore Dam Recreational Area. The tournament proved to be a tremendous success, drawing over 400 participants.
Following the fishing action, an enthusiastic crowd of over 250 gathered at Willy’s Bar and Grill in Larimore for an awards ceremony and complimentary chili feed. Members of the Larimore High School Future Farmers of America generously volunteered their time to assist with serving and cleanup, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable event for all.
The ceremony was a highlight for many, with every child under 17 years of age receiving a prize. The excitement continued with an additional $1,000 in door prizes randomly awarded throughout the afternoon. Anglers also vied for fifteen cash prizes, distributed among the top three longest fish in five categories: Crappie, Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, and Crappie.
The festivities concluded with a drawing for three Scheels Gift Cards (valued at $400, $200, and $100) exclusively for tournament registrants. A buffalo meat raffle added to the excitement, and the eagerly anticipated winner of a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle was announced.
