Many adopters have a preference as to the gender of the cat or kitten they adopt.... But the bottom line is it doesn't matter the gender, but who stole your heart when you met them and who will be loved and cared for in your home for a lifetime

Senior cats often arrive at Pinellas County Animal Services through no fault of their own. Financial hardship, housing restrictions, allergies, illness, or the death of a beloved owner can suddenly change their lives forever.

Imagine spending years in a home, knowing the comfort of a favorite chair, a familiar voice, and a daily routine—only to find yourself in a shelter, confused and wondering what happened.
They feel fear. Loss. Uncertainty.

Yet despite everything, senior cats continue to hope. They still greet kind visitors. They still purr when shown affection. They still dream of a soft bed, a sunny window, and someone to love.

Right now, two deserving seniors are waiting for a second chance:

🐾 Pablo, 9 years old, lost the only home he knew when his owner passed away. Sadly, no family members or friends were able to take him in.

🐾 Copa Cabana, 8 years old, was likely abandoned and survived living beneath a neighbor's home until a compassionate animal lover took her in and searched unsuccessfully for her family.
Senior cats offer something truly special—calm companionship, gratitude, and unconditional love. They aren't looking for perfection. They're simply hoping someone will choose them.

Could you be their soft landing?

Visit Pinellas County Animal Services and meet Pablo or Copa Cabana today. Their best chapter could still be ahead of them. 🏡💕

New faces in cat adoptions at Pinellas County Animal Services on Sunday 5/31/2026. Hope cat lovers get to meet these lovely kitties on Monday the first day of June!

Kennel 1 is Copa Cabana (61013918), a lovely 8-year-old senior girl. It is hard to understand how she may have been abandoned by her previous owner. She was found living under a neighbor’s home by a compassionate cat lover, who searched for several weeks for her family before bringing her to the shelter for help. Though camera shy, Copa showed a sweet personality that made it clear she had once been deeply loved.

Kennel 3 is an energetic 7-month-old girl (61056484) who has not been named yet. Possibly the name Savannah would fit her well, but we’ll see what name the staff chooses. She thoroughly enjoyed her time out on the floor and eagerly explored everyone and everything in adoptions. She will do best with a family that can keep her engaged and active, or her playful mischievous streak is likely to show.

Kennel 5 is Liana (60879451), a shy 5-year-old girl. When we first met her, she was curled up in a ball under the platform in her kennel, trying to hide as she adjusted to the unfamiliar surroundings. Like some of the others, she was found by a compassionate cat lover and was very thin, hungry, and dehydrated. She relaxed a little while we were there—especially after sharing a Churu—and responded well to gentle petting and calm company. By the time we left adoptions, Liana was no longer hiding and was resting on the top shelf of the platform. With a little time, she will likely come out of her shell and become a wonderful companion.

Kennel 6 is Pablo (43797510), a 5 1/2-year-old boy. Sadly, his owner passed away, and no immediate family members or friends were able to take him in. Pablo was clearly well cared for and is a sturdy 15 1/2-pound kitty. Now adjusting to unfamiliar sights and sounds, he seems a little nervous in his current surroundings. As he enters the prime of his life, we hope he will soon find a loving home where he can once again enjoy the attention and affection he is used to.

These sweet new cats will benefit from the TLC of volunteers and the attention of potential adopters. Each one deserves to find a loving home soon.

All cats available for adoption have been spay/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped.. If you may be interested in meeting and better yet adopting, please stop by Pinellas County Animal Services at 12450 Ulmerton Road in Largo, Florida or call 727-582-2600
