Have you told your to stand by her campaign statements and SUPPORT CB-97?!

Ms. Braveboy included breed neutral legislation in her campaign, however, has remained “no position” on CB-97 a safety bill that includes provisions for peeling back the breed restrictions.

Safety and Responsibility? County Executive, support this bill.

🐾✨ Let’s Start Talking About the Proposed Pittie Pilot Program ✨🐾

This proposed legislation is a BIG step toward repealing our county’s breed ban and making pet guardianship more responsible—and it’s thanks to YOUR advocacy. 💜 While all the data and evidence clearly support breed-neutral legislation as the safest and most humane policy, emotions and misconceptions from voters mean many councilmembers aren’t ready to repeal the ban all at once.

👉 Enter the Pilot Program—a strategic, first step forward being introduced by County Chair Burroughs with the support of community-focused councilmembers.

Here’s what it looks like ⬇️

🔹 What it does:
• Allows adoption & fostering of pit-type dogs with a strong safety net
• Focuses on the real causes of dog bites—human behavior
• Requires adopters to complete education on pet ownership, county laws, & available resources
• Connects adopters with spay/neuter & vaccination support to set dogs (and families) up for success
• Designed to be comprehensive without being burdensome (so people don’t just choose another dog or head to another source)

🔹 Who it impacts:
• Dogs adopted through the shelter
• Dogs already owned in the county, who could join the program and stay safe & legally licensed even if the pilot ended

🔹 Data and Reporting

• Council will receive a progress report every 2 months
• Data collected will hopefully build the case for full repeal

This proposal is just that, and may evolve with council feedback, but it’s designed to target root causes and create safer, more humane communities. And our community-focused councilmembers are on board. 🙌

We need to push together through this next step:
✍️ Write letters to council
🤝 Talk to neighbors, coworkers, and friends about supporting the Pilot Program through letter writing. Let’s give the chair a big stack of proof to support this proposal!

and 📢 Keep sharing your stories about how the ban impacts you (email us!)

This is how we build momentum for FULL repeal. More to come soon on easy ways to take action—letter-writing parties, click-to-send drafts, and more.

Let’s keep going. For the dogs. For our community. For change. 🐶💜

Huge thanks to Councilmember Watson for her incredible leadership and partnership in making Prince George’s County a safer, more compassionate place for people and their pets! 🐾💛
From organizing yesterday’s successful microchip event in Bowie to planning the upcoming one in Greenbelt on 9/17, her commitment to community wellness is unmatched. 💜We’re especially grateful for her support of the upcoming Pittie Pilot Program and her proactive approach to expanding education and outreach countywide.💜
We’re truly in awe of her dedication and so excited to continue building a strong, collaborative relationship as we work together to serve and uplift our community. 💪🏽🏡🐶🐱 🚫 👆

💜🎉Thank you for sharing our story.
We know this is just one of many families deeply affected by the breed ban in Prince George’s County. For decades, evidence has shown that these bans do not make communities safer—and in fact, they often cause real harm.

We see it every day:
Families being forced to choose between their homes and their beloved pets based solely on appearance
Dogs being abandoned because they “look like” a banned breed
Good people avoiding our county because their dog isn’t welcome here
Shelters overcrowded with wonderful, loving dogs labeled “illegal”
And our county? It loses revenue, repels good neighbors, and upholds a policy rooted in outdated, visual discrimination—not public safety.

We still can’t understand why holds onto being the largest jurisdiction in the U.S. with this archaic ban. It benefits no one—not even the county.
As we push closer to legislation that would finally allow “pit bull-type” dogs back into loving homes, we’re asking you to join us.

Share your story.
Whether you’ve been directly affected like Cait, AJ, and Poptart, or whether you’ve chosen not to live, work, or do business in PGC because of the ban—your voice matters.
Let’s show our leaders, and just how many of us are impacted by this unjust policy. Together, we can change it.

Our first microchip clinic was a major success! We want to thank Keith Sydnor for having the most collaborative, cooperative, engaged office. The supports pets and their people!
Relationships like this help all of us meet our pet guardians, build trust, and provide resources to navigate concerns before they become obstacles to keeping a pet. We are honored to have worked with you, Mayor, and already looking forward to more great initiatives together!

🚨 We Need You! 🐾

The Pit Bull Pilot Program Bill (LDR 98-2025) is drafted and ready to be introduced when the Council reconvenes in September — and it could be a HUGE step toward repealing the decades-old breed ban. 🐶❌

This bill shifts focus from how a dog looks to what actually causes and prevents dog bites — just like science, data, and national best practices say we should. But politics is messy. While we’re working closely with the Council Chair and supportive members, others are hesitant — concerned that misinformation and stigma may cost them politically.

📣 That’s where YOU come in.

Here’s how to help 👇

1️⃣ 📸 Send us your pic showing support for breed-neutral laws. Lawmakers need to see the real people behind this movement — and how widespread the support truly is.

2️⃣ 🐕 Volunteer with us this summer! We’re hosting free microchip clinics across the county — with councilmembers! It’s a chance to serve our community, listen, educate, and advocate together.

3️⃣ 💬 Share your story. If the breed ban impacted you, tell us. We’ll share your voice with lawmakers and on our site. Want to post it on social media? Tag us!

4️⃣ 🔁 Share & repost. It sounds small, but boosting our content grows our reach. More eyes = more impact.

5️⃣ 📝 Start your testimony. Council testimony will be key — begin preparing what you’ll say now.

❤️ Grassroots wins are built by people like YOU. Let’s bring pit bull-type dogs home to Prince George’s County — fairly, safely, and together.

🎉 We are thrilled to be able to publicly announce that we have been working with the Council Chair and his team and have legislation written, edited and ready to be introduced for County Council Voting when they return to session! 🎉 This bill proposes a plan to allow banned dogs back in to the county, existing dogs to remain safely with their families, and increases education and resources offered to human guardians of dogs for a safer community for all, improving lives for pets and people. 🐶 👨

➡️ But like always, WE NEED YOUR HELP! ⬅️

The dogs can’t afford to have this ban continue, and all of us would be heartbroken if 2018 repeated itself.

We are begging you to spend the summer spreading joy by volunteering (with us, the shelter, a rescue), snuggling your dog, sharing our stories and considering your thoughtful testimony for fall hearings.
For right now, this bill and the dogs need no additional distractions. ❌Please DO NOT contact council about anything animal services related, including shelter complaints, euth/urgent lists or BSL. Just for now!

We know there is a lot of work to be done, and we are doing the work. The wheels of change are slow, but we’re persistent and not going anywhere.

💜 Thank you for your trust, grace, partnership and patience.
Thank you for helping improve the lives of dogs and people in

We can’t wait to see you at events this summer and testimony this fall!

Follow and DM if you’d like more info!
