HELPING IN THE COMMUNITY. Chef Marcus from post 10304 helps feed the homeless on the 4th and 5th Sundays of the month. Today our quartermaster joined them. If you're interested in helping in the future, she's got the details.

On a patriotic note: One of the volunteers shared that his father was one of the Red Tail Tuskegee Airmen. If you don't know, that's about as patriotic as it gets. At a time when the US military was segregated, he still answered the call to serve, putting his life on the line for a nation that had yet to fully recognize his equality, earning several awards for their combat missions. Because of the dedication of people like him, our military is now stronger. I thank him for his service!

Today we and many, many other volunteers from the area were privileged and honored to help remove flags from Memorial Day and prep them for storage at VA Bay Pines. It was neat to learn that some greet each headstone as though they were an old friends, some bless each. It is always humbling and we are glad our Post supports.

Today we and American Legion Post 273 had the honor of being invited to the Salterra Senior Living Facility to share the importance of Memorial Day and join the residence in a most delicious lunch. Thank you, Steve and Amanda! We appreciate your commitment to carry on the memory of those who gave all.
