🐾 Oreo is in urgent need of a foster family! 🐾

Oreo’s owner is in between homes and looking for a safe place for him to stay in the meantime. He is a 3 years old neutered male, about 50 lbs and up-to-date on his vaccines. He is potty trained, crate trained and good with other dogs. He has no history of living with cats or kids at this time. His favorite snack is apples and peanut butter and his favorite game is playing in the sprinklers!

If you are able to help out, please reach out to Reineisha at (202) 277-7872. Thank you!!

Joey had a severe ear infection which led to a hematoma on her ear. It took several vet visits and with help from PG Pup volunteers (big thanks to Jacki!) and donations from our awesome community but now Joey is feeling so much better! Thank you so much to everyone who has helped Joey and her family! 💜

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR PG COUNTY RESIDENTS
As of February 2, 2026, pit bulls and terrier mixes are LEGAL to foster and adopt in Prince George’s County following the repeal of breed-specific legislation that had been in place since 1997.

We are not the animal shelter, and we are not an animal rescue. We are an advocacy organization working hard to support keep pets and their families together in Prince George’s County, MD. For more information or to get involved please visit our website at PetUnityProject.org

is a new nonprofit dedicated to helping shelter pets thrive at Prince George’s County Animal Shelter

A note of gratitude & perspective: We appreciate the Prince George’s County Animal Shelter for their transparency and for guiding us when our community needs to step up most. We also want to acknowledge the shelter staff, as the reality of possible euthanasia takes an immense emotional toll. Overcrowding is a nationwide crisis, not unique to PG County, and even “no kill” shelters are facing these heartbreaking decisions. If you’re feeling anger or frustration, we encourage you to redirect that energy into joining this community and being part of the solution.

We want to send a super big THANK YOU to our friend Kelli at Blockhead Barkery, LLC! For months she drove over an hour to assist a senior couple with their special need, senior pups while they were recovering from surgery. Because of Kelli, this family was able to stay together and Stella & Bianca got spoiled with treats from the Barkery. Your generosity and kindness is so appreciated Kelli!

Rory is looking for her furever family! She’s one years old, spayed and UTD on vaccines.

Rory is the sweetest year old, 40 lb puppy. She currently lives with a wonderful foster and three other dog friends in Leesburg. I adopted her from a shelter over four months ago. She is energetic, playful, sweet, loving, silly, curious, and cuddly. She loves to chew on her toys and bully sticks and play tug and fetch. She is smart and knows sit, down, crate, place, and touch. She really enjoys other dogs.

Rory was saved from a hoarding situation with six other dogs. As a result, she is fearful of loud sounds, new people, and new environments, although she is making big improvements. I live on a busy street in the city with a busy lifestyle which has devastatingly made us incompatible. Rory would thrive in a suburban area with other dogs. Rory has never even tried to bite anyone and has no prior injuries. She has a great appetite and is food motivated. She is healthy and happy. I’m willing to drive her anywhere to meet her new parent!

Today we are mourning the loss of one of our community pups, Gauge. Gauge was a service dogs whose family became unhoused and they asked PG PUP for help. Our team of volunteers worked incredibly hard to get him to Prince George’s Animal Hospital, to get a diagnos and keep him as comfortable as possible but unfortunately last night he took a turn for the worse. This morning his family said goodbye as they could not stand to see him suffer any longer.

First I want to thank our volunteers Emily, Elizabeth, Liz, Jacki, Camila, Ilona & Kelsey for all their hard work, time and donations from transporting, guardian communication and veterinary communication. Gauge’s passing would have been so much more painful and traumatic without them.

I’d also like to thank anyone who has donated to our Rocky fund, this case alone cost $1,519.70 and without these donations, animals and their families would suffer.

We are so sorry to Mindy, Matt & Karma for the loss of Gauge. Thank you for loving him. 🌈🐾
