Cow cuddles, campfire s’mores, good food, and the people who make it all happen 💜

Today we celebrated our PG PUP volunteers with a little MUCH deserved fun at 𝙱𝚛𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚢𝚠𝚒𝚗𝚎 𝙲𝚘𝚠 𝙲𝚞𝚍𝚍𝚕𝚎𝚜 , surrounded by cows other amazing animals, and the families and loved ones who support our team behind the scenes.

This team works SO hard for our community and our dogs. They show up, put in the hours, and give so much of themselves to this work. The least we can do is arrange some cow cuddles.

To our volunteers: thank you for everything you do. We couldn’t do this without you 💜

PG PUP routinely receives requests from pet owners whose lives are changing drastically, and can no longer support a dog in the home. These dogs are deeply loved, and adopting them directly keeps them out of the stressful shelter environment. Please consider adopting a community dog!

Happy National Pierogi Day to our volunteer pup-Pierogi!

How does a dog volunteer? Well, he accompanies his human on supply runs so she doesn’t look crazy talking to herself. He’s a foster brother who is very patient and kind with dogs that need extra space. He provides emotional support for any tough cases. Most importantly, he’s a constant reminder that all dogs are worthy of love and we will keep working together so everyone can have human-dog bond our family does.

A good outcome for sweet Chancie 💜

Chancie’s family reached out to PG PUP after their landlord notified them that dogs would no longer be allowed on the property. They were suddenly faced with having to find a new home for Chancie.

PG PUP worked with the family to explore their options and determine what would be best for Chancie. Fortunately, a family friend was able to step in and welcome her into their home.

Chancie is now settled in with her new family, including a bonus cat brother named Midnight, and has clearly made herself at home.

We’re glad we could help the family navigate an unexpected situation and, most importantly, help Chancie land somewhere safe and loved.

Her owner asked that we not show her face, so naturally we covered it with Chancie. Double Chancie. Meta Chancie.

It’s Walk Your Dog Week!

A walk isn’t just about getting from point A to point B (or tiring your dog out). It’s a chance to sniff, explore, learn, and experience the world at their own pace.

If your dog pulls, gets distracted, or seems more interested in sniffing every blade of grass than actually walking… that’s okay! Walks don’t have to be perfect to be enriching.

Give them time to sniff, explore, and be a dog. Sometimes the best walk is the one that works for your dog 💜

🐾💜Nova needs a little help 💜🐾
Her knee surgery is estimated to cost nearly $6,000, which is a huge expense for her family. Nova is a 2 year old Pittie/Dalmatian mix, so she is a mix of two highly active breeds and is full of energy. She desperately wants to run, play, and be a normal goofy young dog, but her luxating patellas (loose kneecaps) mean she can’t stay active for very long. This restricted mobility isn’t just a frustration for Nova, it can also increase her risk of obesity and other health complications. Her knees are significantly affecting her quality of life, and often make her seem much older than she actually is. Her guardian is saving toward surgery, and we’re hoping the PG PUP community can help get Nova there a little sooner.

Daisy is in need of a home!

Daisy is such a beautiful, smart, and happy girl! Formerly a stray with an unknown past, she was taken in by an elderly good samaritan who is caring for her until the right home is found. She loves to play with toys and do spins and zoomies in the sun room. She is a peoples’ dog - Daisy craves love, affection, and pets, and will try to climb up in your lap when you sit down. Daisy currently lives with cats and an elderly dog, and is interested in all of them, though she is kept separate by a propped-up gate in the doorway. She greets new people, including kids, happily and without barking, and is crate and leash trained.

Her guardian tells us that of the many dogs she’s had over the course of her life, Daisy has the best personality of them all! Unfortunately, Daisy just can’t get the level of attention and exercise she craves in her temporary home. She would do well in a home where she can get belly rubs and hugs as often as possible, preferably with a yard to unleash her full zoomies!
