This is exciting news about the success that PGCPS and the Board of Education has done to make our schools cleaner and greener! Prince George’s is leading the nation.

This Sunday morning in San Antonio, Prince George's County Public Schools will receive the 2026 The National School Boards Association & Go Green Initiative Magna Award Grand Prize for improving Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The award recognizes districts that have taken meaningful action to create healthier learning environments for students and staff. PGCPS will join East St. Louis School District 189 and Issaquah School District for a session where we will share our experiences and insights of effective IAQ planning and strategy, monitoring, and solutions for healthy indoor air to improve academic achievement outcomes.

This focused work on IAQ in PGCPS is another positive outcome of the Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP).

Celebrate National Walking Day All Week
Wednesday is National Walking Day!

National Walking Day was started in 2007 by Healthier Generation’s co-founder, the American Heart Association, to encourage Americans to be more active.

In children, walking can help prevent chronic diseases and support academic performance, improve mood, and reduce stress.

The Walking Classroom gets students walking while listening to curriculum-aligned podcast episodes on topics in language arts, social studies, and science.
