RANCHERS FROM THE HUNGRY ALERT 🚨
The New World Screwworm is a serious threat to livestock, wildlife, pets, and other warm-blooded animals. Early detection is critical to protecting our herds and agricultural communities.
🔍 Be on the lookout for:
• Unusual or worsening wounds
• Maggots in open wounds
• Signs of infestation in livestock or wildlife
• Animals that appear distressed or are not healing properly
If you notice suspicious wounds, maggots, or infestations in your animals or herd, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Hunters, ranchers, and outdoor enthusiasts are also encouraged to remain vigilant. If you observe maggot infestations in live or recently deceased wildlife, particularly near the U.S.-Mexico border, report it to USDA Wildlife Services at:
