‼️19 DRUNK DRIVERS ARRESTED DURING GRADUATION SEASON CRACKDOWN‼️

Laredo, TX – The Laredo Police Department recently concluded its first-ever non-grant-funded “Graduate Responsibly” enforcement initiative, a campaign focused on reducing impaired driving during the busy graduation season.

According to LPD, the mobilization ran from May 15 through May 30, 2026, with officers conducting proactive enforcement efforts aimed at identifying and arresting intoxicated drivers in an effort to reduce alcohol-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities.

During the initiative, officers reported:

• 45 enforcement details conducted
• 335 traffic stops
• 401 citations issued
• 19 DWI arrests
• 3 additional arrests

Police officials described the campaign as a successful effort to improve roadway safety during a period when graduation celebrations often lead to increased alcohol-related activity.

The department stated that the goal of the initiative was to help ensure graduates and residents reach home safely while emphasizing the dangers of driving while intoxicated.

LPD concluded the campaign with a reminder to the community: “Stay safe, don’t drink and drive.”
