Did you know that panting in cats is often a sign of an emergency? Heatstroke can happen quickly, especially during the hot Texas summer.

💧 Provide fresh water daily
🏠 Offer cool, shaded places to rest
🚗 Never leave pets in a vehicle
🪮 Brush regularly to help remove excess fur
⚠️ Watch for signs of overheating: panting, drooling, lethargy, or weakness

If you notice any of these signs, move your cat to a cool area immediately and contact your veterinarian.

It is with deep sadness that Best Friends for Life shares the passing of the mother of our Founder and CEO, Sandra Solis.

Sandra’s mother was a loving presence whose kindness, strength, and compassion touched many lives. Throughout the years, she supported Sandra’s dedication to helping animals and was a quiet part of the journey that helped Best Friends for Life grow into what it is today.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, fosters, adopters, and supporters, we extend our deepest condolences to Sandra and her family. We hope they find comfort in the love of family and friends and in the many beautiful memories they shared.

We ask our BFFL family to keep Sandra and her loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest in peace and thank you for the love you shared with those around you. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
