Congratulations to Mario Peña!
Big Congratulations to Able City Co-Founder/Partner Mario Peña, AIA, AICP, CNUA, who has been honored with the 2023 Trailblazer Award by AIA San Antonio AIA San Antonio's award recognizes a member who, at mid-career, has made significant contributions to the profession of Architecture. His endeavor identified him as a Trailblazer willing to take risks and focus on exceeding all expectations to make an impact.
Early in his career, Mario committed to building a mission-driven practice to improve quality of life and place. Recognizing the limitations of a traditional building-design practice, Mario and the rest of the Able Partners set out to expand the approach to solving today's most pressing issues. Mario became a certified planner and has dedicated his time and talents to merge sound planning and placemaking concepts into the practice of architecture- both within Able City and in the communities in which we work. His personal goal is to help Texas appreciate and embrace walkable development as it continues to grow. It is the single most impacting element in our lives - it supports health, sustainability, neighborly community, equitable transportation, economic vitality, and last but not least, builds beautiful places that everyone can enjoy and call home.
