Take it down act comes into effect. Learn a bit more about this act.

BREAKING NEWS! The TAKE IT DOWN ACT is now in effect. That means platforms such as websites and apps have 48 hours to remove intimate images shared without your consent after you report them, and they’re required to continually remove duplicates by federal law. The law applies to images and videos, real and fake, including AI-generated or “deepfake” content.

If a platform does not follow the law, you have the right to report them to the FTC, the government agency responsible for enforcing this law, at TAKEITDOWN.ftc.gov.

This is a major win for survivors and one step forward in combatting image-based s*xual abuse. If you have struggled in the wake of this abuse, know that you are not alone and you deserve an expedient response when you report harm.

Platforms must do more to not only respond to this abuse, but to prevent these images from being created and spreading, shifting the onus of responsibility from survivors to perpetrators and the tech companies that facilitate this abuse.

Today, we unite in observance of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia.

Let us stand in solidarity as we work collaboratively to uplift, protect, and empower the transgender, nonbinary, and LGBTQ+ communities here in South Texas. In a world where hatred often resonates loudly, it is imperative that love, visibility, advocacy, and community resonate even louder.

Together, we oppose discrimination.
Together, we amplify every voice.
Together, we cultivate safer spaces for all.
Together, we celebrate every identity.

Standing together, speaking out, and honoring every identity.
